Miami (FL) Hurricanes (1926-2003)

That's BS - what good is a University, if you're turning out tree stumps?

Winning with a BALANCE is best.

Honestly?

I'd rather be a perennial bridesmain 1-loss team, with high graduation rates and no off-field issues, than winning a NC every 3 years, at the expense of graduation rates, NCAA investigations, and constant arrests.

Easy choice.

Yeah but IME you're the exception when it comes to Miami 'fans'. Most of the alleged supporters I've run across have nothing to do with the University they're just the band wagon hangers on who liked watching Warren Sapp play.

Every school has that type it just seems like a much larger portion than usual of the Miami fanbase is made up of them (which does make sense given the relatively small size of the student/alumni population).

On a similar vein I noticed that the TSUN fans at The Game this year were without the usual bandwagon types. Their troubles have winnowed away at least some of the chaff.

WELL - If you ever wanted to be a perennial bridesmaid AND have off the field issues, I'd like to welcome you on behalf of the University of Georgia.

To be fair - our recent records indicate we aren't even a good bridesmaid. We're the mama-jama that blacks out way to early and spills our drink on the dance floor.

God Bless,

Donald Trump to Miami: Hire Mike Leach

Mike Leach would love to be back on the sideline next season. He says he just hasn't heard from anyone interested in hiring him yet.
The former Texas Tech coach is getting some lobbying help for the open job at Miami, though.

Donald Trump sent a letter to university president Donna Shalala this week, suggesting the Hurricanes hire Leach to replace the departed Randy Shannon. Leach and Trump have been friends for several years.
"It'd be fun" to coach at Miami, Leach told The Associated Press.

According to a UM Board of Trustee member, ``Gruden was cordial, he listened to everything UM had to say but no offer was made. He said he didn't want to go further because he is keeping all his options open, including the NFL.
``He didn't say yes. He didn't say no. But in effect, it's probably a no because it will take months before the NFL jobs come open and UM can't wait that long.''
The search continues. Sources told The Miami Herald other candidates will be interviewed, some possibly as late as next week.
Internet reports of a UM press conference scheduled for Wednesday were erroneous.
The university sent out an e-mail Wednesday morning saying, ``Media -- There are no Miami press conferences scheduled for today. Any reports to this extent are inaccurate.
``As we said at the beginning of the process, Kirby Hocutt will not comment on the search for a new head football coach until the process is completed.''

There's so much he-said she-said going on, and I got $20 that it's ALL bullshit.

I think there's maybe 4-6 people, MAX, that have a clue:
Hocutt
One of his Asst AD's
Chuck Neinas
Gruden
Gruden's Agent
Gruden's lawyer
Maybe a UM lawyer

So 5-7 people.

The rest?

BULLSHITTERS

They're just working on their 'Tweet Cred' (DAMN! That sounds cool - dibs! I'm getting a copyright!)
first he's in, then zero chance, then he's "still in play" then he turned it down, then Hocutt is flying up to meet with Gruden, then he politely said no, now he's "keeping his options open, including the NFL"

Really?

They're ALL full of shit.

NONE of those idiots knows ANYONE who knows ANYTHING.

Tell ya what, though, it's been a funny-ass roller coaster ride - I've been laughing my ass off googling '+gruden +miami' and then
clicking <More><Updates> and watching the facebook and tweets literally multiply exponentially as more of the same shit gets rehashed.

Some idiots are still re-re-re-retweeting the shit from Sunday night!

Here's a new term: RGT - Regurgitated Tweet

Oh - and BigWoof - no - I don't want Richt - ya'll can keep him, k thx

:)

as to perception and such, I'm 43, so when they were winning championships, I was still a punk, and it was cool.
Now?
I've got 19yo and 18yo boys about to head off to College, so yeah, I'm a little more critical.

What I'm sick of, is getting grouped in, on the InterWebz, with these 19yo idiots, with a closet full of Tap*Out, Underarmour, and UM jerseys,
which they wear with over-long gren UM shorts, with green and orange flip-flops, running around like their thugs and gangstas.

In short?
Remember after the MIA@OSU game, that video of the wannabe-thugs messing with the OSU fans chillin' at their homes?

Yeah.

I'm tired of being lumped in with THOSE iditots.

'Nuff said.

BRING ON LEACH! :pirate1: AAArrrrrrr!

One name I haven't heard mentioned or seen written anywhere is Rob Chudzinski. He was a former player at UM, former assistant there, then moved on to be OC in Cleveland (I think.) Anyway, he obviously doesn't have any HC experience that Miami is seeking, but he has ties and has solid coaching experience.

Again, I have no clue which direction they are heading, but I thought I'd throw out RC as a possible under the radar candidate.

Also, he recruited while on the staff at Miami. Knows programs/HS coaches throughout. Maybe the administration wants a guy that "gets" the U and might come at a relatively cheap salary,in comparison to Leach, Gruden, et al.

CORAL GABLES, Fla. -- Jon Gruden apologized Thursday for widespread speculation about his candidacy to be Miami's next football coach, and said he's willing to help the Hurricanes find the right person for the job.
The former Super Bowl-winning coach and current ESPN analyst reiterated his commitment to "Monday Night Football" for the second time this week, and the network repeated that it expects Gruden to at least complete his contract, which runs through 2011.
Gruden met face to face with Hurricanes athletic director Kirby Hocutt on Wednesday.
"I'd just like to say I'm committed to ESPN," Gruden said on a conference call. "There's not a lot to add. I'm very thankful to have the job that I have and I'm eager to try to get better at it. And I know there was a lot of speculation over the last few days, and for that, I'm sorry. I'm just excited to be with 'Monday Night Football.' "
Gruden won a Super Bowl with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and also has coached the Oakland Raiders. He began working as an analyst for ESPN in 2009.
Despite reports that circulated earlier in the week that Miami was in final negotiations with Gruden and nearing a deal, he said Thursday "there was never anything really serious about this."
Hocutt was in his Miami office Thursday, and a hiring of a new coach was not imminent. Hocutt has not responded to requests for comment, and said he would not discuss the search process until Miami's next coach is named.

Good.

Can we get REAL now?
Leach wouldn't come at a high price...
Mullen would, because MsSt is already thinking of upping his salary for him to stay...

I want someone who WANTS to be here - not has to be CONVINCED to come here - that's BS.

If you don't wanna be here, FU and the horse you rode in on - GTFO and don't let the door hit you on the way out - NEXT!
