Michigan RB Michael "Shart" Shaw (carrying on the proud tradition of #20)

I see Jeremy Gallon was trailing Shaw like a lapdog in the tunnel.

Anyone want to try and figure out how many UM players have used up all their eligibility without beating Ohio State over the last six years?

Only the entire recruiting class of 2003, 2004, and 2005*.

* I know there are some redshirts in there but they'll get theirs next year.

EDIT
The recruiting class of 2006 is on deck to take the 0 fer

I think your off by a year, the '03 class would have been freshman for the 2003 game which scUM won. The '06 class is already 0-4. Colemans and Homans class 4-0 for the good guys.

I was just doing it in my head real quick and thinking that if they signed in '03 they started playing in '04 etc. You are right if they signed in Feb of '04 then they were freshmen in the 2004 season and so on.

So the 2004, 2005, 2006 recruiting classes have donned the golden sombrero, the 2007 recruiting class is already being fitted for theirs.

Well, here's a quick cut of the UM players that will never beat Ohio State while wearing a UM uniform--I didn't go case-by-case through each recruiting class:

22 commits in the 2004 recruiting class (all)
23 commits in the 2005 recruiting class (all)
13 of the 20 commits in the 2006 recruiting class (7 redshirts still have one last chance). Note that Justin Boren is counted as one of the 13, as he will most certainly use up his eligibility without ever beating Ohio State as a Michigan player.
After 2006: 12 who transferred out or were kicked off the team (Witherspoon, Clemons, Babb, Chambers, Horn, McGuffie, Threet, O'Neill, Wermers, Feagin, Cissoko, Mallett (thanks, briegg)--there may be more, I did not do detailed research on this either)

Total: 70 (again, by my quick math--didn't go on a case-by-case basis).

This also does not include walk-ons like Nick Sheridan, etc.--just scholarship commits as listed by Rivals.

I know of one member of one of the scum recruiting classes that found a way to win The Game.

Just so our visitors from TSUN can remember the lasting image of a potential great one that got away.

Of course, they'll always have Shart. They've got that going for them.
