Mitchell Trubisky (QB Chicago Bears)

Wow, really impressive film...gotta think he shoots up the rankings with that. Releases the ball a little low but he has a quick release, makes all the throws across the field, and the ball is where it needs to be every time. Athletically, Mitch is very gifted...not quite a dual threat but he was making some big time runs against great competition.

As much as I love Zaire, this will be a tough call. Zaire has more arm strength that Trubisky and is a slightly better athlete, but Mitch has put up huge performances against great competition and has more proof he can make the throws he needs to. I would hate to exclude either from this class.

Just finished watching the film as well. A couple things stood out to me.

Impressed by the number of designed runs for a "non-dual threat" QB. He's no Braxton, but he's shiftier than I think most people would expect and breaks off numerous 40+ yard carries. Like RB07 said, he shot puts the ball a bit on the release but his pocket presence/elusivness and ability to throw on the run are extremely well-developed (2:16 in the clip, good display). He gets rid of it fast enough that it's not much of a liability anyway. The particularly nice/impressive thing about this highlight film is that it's not 5 minutes of MT launching bombs to guys who are wide open downfield, rather him dropping dimes into air tight coverage many times and maybe in 1 out of 10 passes do you see the receiver have to slow a step to wait for the ball or lay out to go and get it. It wouldn't surprise me at all to see him in the top 5-10 pocket passer recruits before NLOID.

far from a pocket passer IMO. Reminds me of the Central Michigan QB from a year or so back I believe his name was Dan Lafever.

He may not be like Braxton but If he gets pressured I feel like not only will he tuck and run but he will dangerous in doing so as well.

So what you're saying is that Mitch Trubisky is the next poor man's Tim Tebow?

:wink2:

Just wondering, but do u think that the designed run plays have more to do with how the playbook is run and not just based on Mitch? The last qb I can think of from mentor that made some noise in college was Zach collaros who was quite athletic himself. Neither of these guys will be confused with braxton or t pryor, but both could move the chains with their feet if need be. And i'm sure that Mitch is usually one of the best athletes on the field so coaches are comfortable with him running. Just my. 02

I believe Collaros was from Steubenville.

My fault. Thanks for the correction. But I hope u still got my point. Kids a good athlete who the offense has great confidence in to win games and make plays and not just manage. Ive liked this kid more and more after seeing more film and hearing so many glowing remarks. Like has been stated previously, if we get a combination of any 2 of the qbs we're going after we will be set.

Correct. Pnuts may be thinking of Bart Tanski.

Yep. Tanski was a heck of a HS QB and the lack of offers for him always shocked me. Either way, Mentor is certainly a QB-friendly system and gives Mitch the chance to show he can make all the throws.
