Cam's father says they will be departing for Columbus on Sunday & will be on campus Monday and Tuesday. Cam's mother will also be accompanying them & she is excited to meet Coach Meyer as well as seeing what tOSU has to offer.

His second visit on his own dime with his whole family indicates there's a good shot. I think the only other place he goes would be OSU, if not Bama.

I wonder if the staff takes a similar recruiting approach as they did with Torrance Gibson. Offer Akers the opportunity to be the second QB in this class and then see which position he ultimately fits best at after enrolling.

If Cam isn't playing RB, because he surely isn't a QB, what position do you see him playing?

I see him as a running back. I'm just saying putting the QB option on the table for him could be an interesting way to play things. In 2015 the staff likely knew they were going to put Gibson at WR, but he was recruited as a QB in order to keep his interest and attention.

I think in 2015 the staff did everything to keep Gibson at QB, HE approached the staff wanting to change positions. And now he realizes he has more upside at WR and playing QB got that much harder when Haskins signed. I don't see this staff as the type that plays games in order to sign kids. He's being looked at as a RB all the way

Exactly! The staff isn't going to BS a kid for a signature like some coaching staffs do. The staff clearly is looking for a 2nd RB in the 2017 class, and Akers is very much on the board with names like Lemons, Sermon, etc

This is the classy and PROPER way to do it, IMO. If you aren't 100% sure and want to keep taking visits and have an open mind. Then de-commit publicly and let the world know where you stand honestly and above board.

I am sick of all the kids that claim they are 100% committed but keep taking visits. That is just "holding a spot until something better comes along" - which is not the stand-up honorable way.

Coaches shouldn't offer unless it is commitable and un-retractable ( except in maybe rare circumstances where a kid stops performing in the classroom like he was or commits a felony or something dramatic ). Yes, that means stringing kids along more and possibly losing planBs more often - but IMO that is part of the JOB and why they get paid millions. Lying to kids about offer/OFFER and screwing them over is a bad example to set and since they are faculty IMO it is both dishonest and immoral and corrupt to play such games with 17 and 18 year old kids - as 40,50,60 year old men!

I don't mind late offers or trying to flip kids, but if it is at the expense of others ( reneging on committed kids without major extenuating circumstances ) it is downright sleazy and plain wrong, IMO. Unethical and unprofessional behavior by coaches should not be dismissed as some kind of right. Cheating kids is no better than cheating the NCAA rules, IMO it is actually much worse. What Tress did was trivial BS, IOW. Coaches that pull the rug out on a kid's future by lying and cheating to get a small edge on the 85 limit - is much more egregious.

I agree. Wherever he lands, I am sure that he will do well. Hope it's Ohio State.
