Oregon, LSU, USC, Ohio State and NC State are four others to watch for the high three-star defensive end who just transferred to Matthews (N.C.) Weddington and now Florida State is among that top group as well.
The more he gets to know coach Mike Norvell and especially the reputation and resume of position coach Odell Haggins the more he’s intrigued by the Seminoles. Others are definitely major contenders here but after a weekend visit to Tallahassee, FSU should be watched.

THE HURRY-UP: 2025 DL TRAJEN ODOM SAYS OHIO STATE IS “EASILY IN THE TOP THREE” AND FOUR-STAR 2025 LINEBACKER TARVOS ALFORD WILL ANNOUNCE HIS COMMITMENT ON MARCH 30

A 2025 defensive lineman from North Carolina was humbled when Ohio State defensive line coach Larry Johnson stopped by his school on Jan. 19 and extended him an offer from OSU.

Three-star prospect Trajen Odom said he’s been a fan of the Buckeyes for several years and OSU has produced one of his football role models.
“Growing up, Ohio State was one of my favorite schools,” Odom told Eleven Warriors. “It was crazy and great to get the offer. Larry Johnson has coached some of the greats, including the Bosa brothers and Chase Young. Chase Young is one of my favorite players so I was really excited to get that offer.”

On his visit, Johnson and Odom had an extensive conversation, which left quite an impression on the 6-foot-5, 265-pound defensive lineman.
“In terms of football, he likes the player I am, he likes my build, he likes my versatility and how I’m athletic,” Odom said of his conversation with Johnson. “He also knows I’m a connection guy. He thinks I’m a fit for his program and the front they run. He said I’m one of the main guys on his board right now.”

Odom said he hopes to commit sometime in June once he takes his official visits, as he’d like to shut down his recruitment before his high school season begins.

OSU is easily in the top three for me right now,” Odom said of where the Buckeyes stand in his recruitment. “For sure.”

FOUR-STAR 2025 DEFENSIVE TACKLE TRAJEN ODOM ENJOYS FIRST VISIT TO COLUMBUS, SAYS HE’LL TAKE AN OFFICIAL VISIT TO COLUMBUS ON JUNE 7

“Being in Columbus, the visit was great,” Odom told Eleven Warriors. “The atmosphere and the area were cool. I liked the relationships I built with coach Day, coach Johnson and the whole defensive staff was great. My main takeaways were that there’s a lot of intensity within the entire program and the system. A big thing is the developmental piece that coach Johnson has put into his players and everything. It’s really a brotherhood there and a great relationship between the players and staff.”

Odom spent his weekend at OSU and made the most of his experience, taking in the city and touring the campus and athletic facilities. He also attended the Buckeyes’ practice on Saturday, where the defensive linemen stood out to him.

“My impression of them was great,” he said. “They don’t have the biggest guys there, but the technique coach Johnson has given them and the fine details he’s put them through, the stuff he’s taught them, they’ve added it to their game quickly.”

Odom spent a lot of time around Johnson, who conveyed to Odom that OSU sees him as a perfect three-technique in the Buckeyes’ scheme.

“We talked a lot,” Odom said. “We talked about his principles of being a coach, the values of being a part of the Buckeyes, where I’m going to be playing, when he wants me there and how he’ll build around me and build pieces with me. And then football and life in general and how to reach your goals.”

Johnson stressed to Odom that he is a priority defensive tackle target to the Buckeyes in their 2025 class, which was echoed by Ryan Day when the pair briefly met on the visit.

“It was huge, coach Day said the same thing, that I’m a priority,” Odom said. “Coming from coach Johnson, arguably the best defensive line coach in college football, that’s a big thing for me that he really wants me on this team and wants to coach me and develop me. It means a lot to me.”
