Nick Saban (ex-HC Alabama Crimson Tide)

When defensive lineman Jonathan Taylor enrolled at Alabama in January, Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban said he was the "kind of guy that deserved a second chance."

"kind of guy" in the "we just gave up nearly 300 yards rushing in a season ending loss and this big mother fucker might be able to stop that from happening again" sense of the phrase.

Apparently, the state of Alabama welcoming players Georgia has kicked off the team is going to be an annual thing now (IIRC, Auburn did the same exact thing a year or two ago).

Say what you want about Mark Richt, he runs the least SEC-like program of all the "elite" southern schools. Not coincidentally, he also has had the least amount of success.

Is it any wonder Meyer got burnt out dealing with the SEC on a yearly basis?

Yep, I said the same thing to someone right after the transfer was announced. They asked why he would do something like that and I think my reply was something like "number 15 in S&G". You are 100 per cent correct, on to the bonus round sir.

Should be noted that Mr. Taylor was internally disciplined while at UGA for missed training and conditioning sessions. When he assaulted his lady friend, CMR had seen enough.
I know why we recruited him. Some young men really do turn around when you give them some structure and discipline. But many do not and Jon was one that we took a flyer on and it didn't work out.

Serious question...well, as serious as I can be...when the Tide come up short in the NC race for the 3rd straight year, does bammer fan start to turn on Saban? I bet they do...

It's already started. We have a section of my group located in Montgomery and they are like 90% Bama fans (with the rest being Auburn or Free Shoes fans)....for the first month after the Ohio State victory, literally every conference call a few of their bigger fans would attend would have a comment or three about how Saban needs to change his coaching staff.

WHAT!!!! WHOA! Did ESPN finally say something negative about SEC HR policies?

"One of Mike Slive's last duties as SEC commissioner needs to be instituting a rule that prohibits student-athletes convicted of felonies from transferring from one SEC school to another. Players accused of violent crimes like domestic assault also need to be off-limits, at least until the criminal justice system has run its course and they've either been acquitted or convicted. It might be just me, but it doesn't make much sense that players can lose their NCAA eligibility for selling their autographs, but others can transfer and play immediately after being charged with beating a woman.

Taylor's attorney, Kim Stephens, told ESPN.com in February that Alabama wasn't the only SEC school that recruited his client. Unfortunately for Alabama, it was the school that signed him.

And now Saban and the university's administration will have to deal with the ugly consequences of making such a thoroughly stupid decision."

what ugly consequences will those be? they kicked him off the team because he got arrested again and the PR hit would be a nightmare if they didn't. saban will talk about believing in 2nd chances and redemption of lost souls, and try to act as curmudgeonly pious as possible, and come July, when the 2015 SEC slobberfest starts back up, this will all be forgotten.
