OC Chip Kelly (Official Thread)

I always thought his offense philosophy was great. Every play was designed to create a mismatch, whether it was a run up the middle, an end run, a wideout screen (gasp!), or pass patterns against zone or man defenses. Then it all comes down to execution, something we saw in Oregon and didn't see so much at UCLA. He emphasizes wide receivers who can block. On the minus side, he was said to be aloof and somewhat unapproachable, which is bad for a head coach, but maybe not such a big problem for a coordinator. Bottom line, he will be coaching players at a talent level that he hasn't had before (at the college level). I give this hire two thumbs up.

Perfect scenario for all parties. Chip no longer had the stomach to be a CFB HC, he just wanted to call plays and run an offense with the best talent. He was never going to get the talent that he’ll have at OSU. Kelly also reunites with Frye, and that can only be a plus, since their run game is something OSU can only dream of with Henderson and Judkins. And this allows Day to be the CEO of the entire team like what everyone wanted and the program needed.

How’s everyone feeling about this off-season so far?

Hope it works out for Chip Kelly at Ohio State. Father to father, I would have advised him to go to Nebraska. You guys wouldn't believe what Coach Rhule is building out there. That, and with the opportunity to coach top QB transfer Dylan Ravioli, well, it's a no brainer. But it is what it is, and good luck to Chip Kelly.
I laughed at "Dylan Ravioli" much harder than I should have.
