OH DE Prince Sammons (Auburn Signee)

BUCKEYES RECRUITING OHIO JUNIORS
Prince Sammons. Cincinnati Hills. The number-four defensive end in America, but a player who might be far better suited playing offensive tackle. This is shaping up to be yet another Ohio State fight with Notre Dame, and education is going to be a factor. OUTLOOK: Although Notre Dame usually gets the nod when it comes down to education, I think Ohio State is going to win this one.

Our staff has really been coveting 6'6"+ DEs, per pre-national champ game pressers with our staff, and we certainly have a great need for DEs. However, after watching film on him, Prince is just as impressive, if not more, as an OT propect... and his size is ideal for that position as well. That says a lot too, because he is a disruptive force on the D-Line.

LOVE this kid. The timing and depth chart are more than ideal for him at Ohio State at DE. Would love to see him in S&G.

I'd personally rather have him on defense and be a big force on the line like Armstead was for Oregon. We should be set at OT with the last few classes and Eichenberg and the other OOS OTs for 2016.

The Opening Columbus: Best of the Best Defense
The fact that he didn't make this list isn't earth-shattering in and of itself, but I watched vines of some of his one-on-one reps from the event and feel like he has a ton of work to do to become a force on the defensive side of the ball. And that's ok for many teams. Is it ok for the Buckeyes this year, with the defensive ends they seem to be in good position to land? Not sure.

If I was a premier talent evaluator, I'd have a different job, but he looks like a future offensive tackle to me...

What is the story with this kid. Are we still recruiting him? Is he still being looked at as DE? You don't hear much about him yet he has big offers.
He's not doing well in camps. He still has potential but probably isn't reaching it quickly enough for the big time programs to be actively pushing for a commitment- particularly this early in the process.

No room at DE, IMO. Only way they take him is if they see him playing a Doug Worthington-type role or moving over to offense. I have him out of the class as of now (not that I ever had him in).

Saw this kid play live against my daughter's HS, IMHO, I came away highly unimpressed. He made his only big play of the game towards the end of the game when it was already decided that CHCA would win(a strip sack), other than that, kids half his size pushed him around. He wasn't very engaging or seemed hungry to get in the middle and mix it around, though he was an enormous kid! Even from the visitors side, sitting a long ways away you can tell he's a big kid, yet we hardly heard his name called. One of the dads joked towards the end of the game that he should be used solely as an intimidation factor against teams as his play isn't what its cracked up to be. A family friend on the board for CHCA said he's starting to look at some Ivy league schools to play football and also do Pre Med and if not then Candy or Duke could be where he heads. Seems like a very smart kid who's size kind of dictated his life to the gridiron.
