Here are the divisions in which each of those Buckeyes will compete:

  • 65kg: McKenna and Mendez
  • 87kg: Schierl
  • 97kg: Snyder, Moore, Boykin and Orndorff

Blaze just beat Megalduis in trials. We cannot, I repeat, cannot miss on this kid. He's beating All Americans and champions before his senior year of high school. Dude is an animal. Absurd that he can compete with and sometimes beat these international veterans in their prime.

Mendez falls to Retherford 3-2. Took down the #2 and #3 seeds, and wrestled his 4th match of the day against the fresh Retherford, who had a bye into the semis by way of winning the worlds at 70kg (a non-Olympic weight). To be perfectly honest, I do not know for what reason Retherford was awarded his 3rd point in this match. Looked like a tie to me.

Unreal. Beating Yianni is mind boggling. Seriously. Not like I need to say it, but the kid's a unique talent.
Kollin Moore into the finals! Cox left his boots on the mat after the match.

I hope so, so, so bad he wins his spot. Kid got robbed in Covid and did everything right. He really deserves his day, glad he keeps fighting for it.

I might run my first through a wall on Brooks beating Taylor for personal reasons, but that's how it shakes out sometimes. Awful, awful call stopping the match while David is in on leg and able to score. Who knows what happens, but you let it happen there.

Snyder is a huge positive though, let's go have at it big guy. Rooting for him, he looks like a tank!
