OL Justin Boren (Official Thread)

This is the most amazing piece of college football news I have heard in ages. Very much dancing banana worthy. :groove:

Hey TSUN, Lloyd Carr may have lost recruits to Ohio State, but he never caused a potential All-Big Ten legacy offensive lineman to transfer from scUM to tOSU. Think about that for a second.

Keep in mind he is paying his own way at tOSU due to Big Ten transfer rules.

He would rather pay to go to OSU than get a free ride from scUM/Prick Rod.

Without turning this into a general OL discussion thread again - Boren will fill one of our greatest needs next season (along with QB and experienced LB).

We will lose three starters at OL. That is huge for any program. Boren will be the equivalent of bringing in an AA JUCO - but so much better than even that because he has played at the highest level and has had an extra season to bulk up.

You would be hard pressed to design anything that fit more perfectly regardless of where he was coming from.

I think of it more like signing the biggest FA OL of the year in the NFL. Boren is likely much better than any JUCO. You know exactly what he is capable of against the same competition that he will face at tOSU. I don't know if I've ever seen anything like this in the past.

Brewster is too good to keep of the field if he isn't playing it's only because he has pushed those in front of him to make them better...it's a win-win for Bollman, whether it be at guard or center.

Kerr transferred from Indiana to tOSU which isn't quite as big a deal. He was trying to take a step up to get looks from the NFL.

In basketball, Lawrence Funderburke transferred from Indiana to tOSU which was a big deal back then.

Here's a rotation I could see in '09 (with whatever recruits he land to go along with Mewhort filling in gaps):

LT: Adams
LG: Smith
C: Cordle
RG: Boren
RT: Shugarts

LT: Browning
LG: Kerr
C: Brewster
RG: Blanksenship
RT: Miller

I would think that if Browning has already seen playing time at Guard, and will most likely start at RT this year, that should Shuggarts win the starting RT job in '09 that Browning would end up starting at LG.
