I hear ya.... my Friend is a Deputy Sheriff and he was always armed while we watched the games (he was usually on his way to work after the game ended)

Pittman is a hellllll of alot better than Ross.

Pittman 11 carries for 35 yards.
Ross 11 carries for 33 yards.
And I still want to see the stats on blocking.

I like Pittman too, but nothing last night made the case against Ross.

The defensive adjustments were awful by the coaching staff.

I like to see a DC in the booth looking at pictures and figuring out what the offense is doing - not on the field doing 'rah-rah' with the players. It is frustrating to get beat by the same plays in the fourth quarter that were beating us in the first quarter. But Snyder is new to his job.

Eventually the defense will have a bad game.

33 pionts
444 yards total offense
60% third down conversion rate

Not gonna have to wait long.

The season is not over but if we play like that we will go 6-5.

6-5 would be tough. But the good news is this. This IS a very talented football team. They have as few seniors starting as you are ever likely to see at OSU. It is not uncommon for a team to suddenly find itself and make a complete change in level of play, and this team is fully capable of that.

All that said, NU is a very good team. Parity is for real and coaching and motivation are increasingly important. We have all the talent in the world, but I am not convinced our game-prep coaches give us that much of an advantage. Our offensive is consistently ineffective and other teams are well prepared for what we are going to do. Our D is not always as well prepared for them and we do not seem to be making the adjustments it made under Dantonio. We had TWO WEEKS to get ready for this game and to make changes in our O. And if you want to hire your brother as the running backs coach - have at it. But someboday better coach the damn running backs.

OH8...great post. I was about to begin a thread with those very thoughts...

1) Put down the knives and rope...everyone had NC hopes as we should every year, but if you have a realistic bone in your body, somewhere in the recesses of your mind, behind the loyalty and S&G blood, we all knew it would be tough

2) Don't jump ship...we all support JT and his decisions when we win. Hell we had a number of threads supporting Tressel-ball in the past few weeks and now some posters are calling him the Anti-Christ <HYPERBOLE>. Critique of course, but let's not jump ship...only the rats do that.

3) Mark Snyder is not Mark Dantonio...he needs to be in the booth as stated above. tOSU was out-coached last night but dont plan on seeing this happen often.

4) The youth, especially at QB, is glaring right now. Relax and let these guys mature...good things are coming.

To sum it all up...I hate to lose, but the sky is not falling. Going undefeated in CFB is one of the most difficult tasks in the world of sports...especially when you have that target on your back every week. Teams like NU can save jobs and make careers by knocking off a big dog like the Bucks. Stay true to the course and let's concentrate getting better.

I agree that the stats dont really set them apart, but just watching the difference in how they run showed that pittman is the better back. I think he was more consistent and he just gets to the hole so much faster. It did seem like Tressel still went with Ross when we were in shotgun and needed the rb to block.

Great point osugrad21, and with the new and upcoming RB's and O-line, we'll be fine in the future. When it will happen who knows. I personally think that this team goes only as well as Justin Zick does and he is a really young, "green" QB who is learning by trial and error. Not many, if any teams with new QB's do well or go undefeated, and it does't matter which one would be in there. The fact is it is and almost certainly always will be Justin, so buckle up for a bumpy ride but when JZ does settle into the gameplan and learn to lead this team and pick apart defensive back .... WATCH OUT !!

The thing I'm just as worried about is how they moved the ball on us with consistency. The only times we seemed to stop them is when they shot themselves in the foot with penalties. Granted, we got the two INTs, but still their offense looked effective. It seems the teams the mix the plays up well and use our pursuit against us (misdirection, etc.) seem to pile up the yards. Plus we didn't get shit for pressure yesterday...I can't recall a single sack on our part. Conversely, they were all over Zwick yesterday, and once he was sacked for the first time, he was rattled the rest of the game.

Art,
How can you say you would rather loses to norwestern than michigan?
Whio is the scUM fan now!

It was Clarity that said, quote: "Shit, I'd rather drop one to 1-3 Northwestern and make their decade than drop one to either Wisconsin or Michigan." He didn't say he'd prefer to lose to Michigan, but would prefer to lose to Northwestern. Besides being a whining bandwagon fan, you can't even frickin' read. Wow, I wonder where all those red chicklets came from...

when Pitman was tackled for a loss or no gain, he was visibly pissed... Ross seemed to be lackadaisical... and too "oh well" about it... I'm sure that's not what Lydell was thinking.. but that's how it appeared...

when Ross got the hand off, he seemed to stand still and hesitate... you could see his indecision... Pitman was a man on a mission... and heading up field... I do wish he were bigger tho...

for all the talent that is supposed to be on those two front lines... they have been disappointingly invisible...

maybe it's not all Ross' fault that he can't find a hole... but he seems to be locked into indecision when he gets the ball... maybe Pitman is a naive freshman, so he doesn't think about it.. and also looked like he should be in there and Ross his backup...

Zwick was OK.. but I wonder how many other BP members wondered what could have been... had Smith been in there... I'm not for a QB controversy, but if JT saw fit to switch up on RB, it appeared same for QB could have been an option last night...

I'm sure Zwick's movement out of the pocket was by design, but if the pocket is holding up, why move out where the outside rush ran him down? kept wondering what Smith would have been able to do if the defense over pursued him...
