Out-Of-State Players to Watch

Mind of Mike
An interesting situation has developed with 2015 wide receiver Ahmad Wagner, who has been committed to Iowa to play basketball. After just a few varsity games on the gridiron this fall, major college programs are making contact to see if Wagner would be interested in playing football at the next level, with Kentucky being the first school to extend an offer. The Wildcats have also given Wagner the opportunity to walk-on for basketball. While he has mentioned that he remains solid with his commitment to Iowa for basketball, Wagner's football coach has mentioned that he has the "fever" for football again, so we'll see if that intensifies with the likes of Ohio State, Notre Dame and Michigan now knocking on the door. Kentucky obviously offers the biggest basketball opportunity of the suitors and now football is looking more attractive as well, so the Wildcats will be a team to watch here.

Four-star athlete Ykili Ross of Riverside (Calif.) Poly has had a change of plans, which effects a few programs. After originally having plans to visit Miami next month, Ross recently decided to cancel that visit, which may open things up for another school. The two schools that could get an official from Ross after this development are Ohio State and Oregon, with the Ducks being the more likely. However, USC is still the team to beat for Ross, so if anyone gets the chance to host him, they will have to work overtime to overcome the Trojans. Notre Dame has the best shot, followed by Oklahoma, but both are longshots.

Williams Turns Attention To Recruiting, Big Ten Visit Next
“I’m still interested in Ole Miss, Ohio State, Purdue, Indiana, Nebraska, Louisville and a couple others,” Williams said. “The only one that hasn’t offered me a scholarship is Ohio State.”

Williams has been to games this season at Ohio State, Indiana and Louisville. Next up will likely be a trip to Nebraska.

Oklahoma offers Vandy LB commit
Oklahoma has extended an offer to four-star linebacker Josh Smith out of Murfreesboro (Tenn.) Oakland. Smith is a Vanderbilt commit and his older brother Emmanuel Smith is a freshman for the Commodores. However Smith has told us that he does plan to take an official visit to Oklahoma, along with one to Kentucky before national signing day. His Kentucky visit will take place this weekend while he has yet to set up his Oklahoma trip. Ohio State also visited Smith on Monday morning.

Smith is ranked by the industry-generated 247Sports Composite as the No. 7 inside linebacker in the country and a four-star prospect.

A bit puzzling to me...
