Penn State Cult (Joe Knew)

I went to "like" your post, but I really don't like it. I agree with it, but I'm disgusted in that I believe it to be pretty accurate. They would send 409 kids to Jerry for a night each if they thought the country would recognize Penn State as the center of college football.

Absolutely. I've always been a bit of a fan of conspiracy theories and people who argue with proven science. Not because I believe any of them, but I'm fascinated that other people do (or pretend to). Penn State's fans and their "everyone hates us" crap is some of the best reading material.

To be fair...... don't we all hate them

I saw this thread about Tom Bradley going to UCLA: https://bwi.rivals.com/showmsg.asp?fid=36&tid=179162974&mid=179162974&sid=890&style=2

I read a couple posts because I didn't know who "scrap" was....I figured it was somebody that Tom Bradley brought with him. Once I found out "scrap" = Tom Bradley, I clicked out of the thread. Then I thought, I bet if I go a couple more posts I can find how this all relates to Paterno. I went back in, and of course it was there:
I don't understand. If everyone knew that Jerry was diddling kids and Scrap played for Jerry and coached under him, he should have know what Jerry was doing. Everyone says that it was common knowledge Jerry was raping kids for 30 years, how could Scrap not have known? He must have seen Jerry tickling kids, putting his hands on their knees and bear hugging them. This is proof he was raping them.
Which is pathetic in it's own right. Once again, they have to relate it to Paterno. A couple of them get confused and can't read the sarcasm. Somebody finally comes along and let's them know....in a way that sums up BWI perfectly
It's actually a very cogent post.....
.....and a theme I was harping on last week. The mental gymnastics one must perform in order to completely exonerate TB while continuing to denigrate JVP and the entire PSU Community is a showcase of selective, hypocritical reasoning. In other words, one could argue that UCLA cares more about improving their defense than they do about child victims.

Of course the sensible alternative to all this is that nothing happened on PSU's campus that JVP, TB, GS, GS, or TC should have been overly alarmed about.
Bold is mine.

At what point does this type of thing become illegal? Are people allowed to make threats like this? Maybe it's all protected under "free speech". (I'm not trying to start a political debate.)

If I saw Olberman face to face
he would end up in the hospital. What a waste of life and completely worthless piece of [Mark May].

And Tug Speedwell thought they were going to come after him?! He's not even on the first page of their hit list!!

They've physically threatened a lot of people on there including Big Ten refs. If one of the intended victims (or whatever people are calling them) saw it, I suppose they could go to their local law enforcement agency and start the process to subpoena ISP records to find the poster's identity and then file harassment charges and probably get a restraining order out of it. A lot of hassle to go through for a very slim threat. It would, however, finally force Yahoo/Rivals hand to do something about the cult nest that McAndrew is running under their corporate umbrella.

OK. I understand it is a lot of work to go through for probably not enough of an issue. But what if something happens to Keith Olbermann? Say he gets beat pretty badly. Can investigators use that post and see who made it, and check out that guy based on an internet post?

Investigators would have to get past the fact that the pussy hiding behind his keyboard is completely full of shit, and would cower like a child if Olbermann walked up to him and said "I heard you wanted to meet me face to face".

What did he say now?

Some cult member tweeted Olbermann a THON article and included the words "We are..." Olbermann's obvious response was "pitiful." The Cult is now all mad because Olbermann didn't give them an attaboy for not raping kids in the ass. On Audibles, a cult member started a thread to let everyone know that he has already complained about Olbermann to ESPN and Disney. :sob:

Prior to 2011, THON used to be fairly understated. Post Sandusky, however, THON is used to flood the media and message boards with propaganda about how awesome the Cult is and no other school in the country raises so much money for kids. I guess Olbermann didn't realize that if the Cult raises enough money, Sandusky/Paterno never happened.

They sure like writing letters to people, don't they? Not that I think that people SHOULDN'T write to voice their opinions, but they seem to be quick to fire the emails and letters. "I'm not being respected as an individual by such-and-such organization. I'm going to write to my state representatives!" Yeah - your local, state, and federal government should really be interested in whether Urban Meyer was going for the onsides kick at the end of the first half in 2013 against your team.

And the Cult wins again. Olbermann has now apparently been suspended for a week over his PSU tweets. He has also apparently been forced to grovel to The Cult on Twitter.

"We are aware of the exchange Keith Olbermann had on Twitter last night regarding Penn State. It was completely inappropriate and does not reflect the views of ESPN. We have discussed it with Keith, who recognizes he was wrong. ESPN and Keith have agreed that he will not host his show for the remainder of this week and will return on Monday. The annual tradition of THON and the efforts of the students of Penn State to fight pediatric cancer should be applauded."

@KeithOlbermann: "I apologize for the PSU tweets. I was stupid and childish and way less mature than the students there who did such a great fundraising job."

Well, to be fair (to an extent) he labeled all PSU students "Pitiful" after one PSU chick tweeted "We are!". As much as I love ripping the cult, publicly downplaying a good cause at PSU just plays into the cult's "everyone is out to get us" psychosis.

Here's my deal with THON....which has been shoved in my face as a motorist in the state of PA for nearly a decade...maybe more. It's amazing that people can raise that much money for charity, especially for one that fights cancer in children. However, and I know adding a "however" to something like this seems petty or cruel or whatever, they use it as a weapon. Say something bad about Penn State? THON THON THON THON THON. Suggest Penn State might not have children's best interests at heart? THON THON THON THON. They're using cancer in children as a shield for practically anything negative their athletes do. It's not even related to athletics at all....but of course this is Penn State we're talking about, so it's always about the football team or women's volleyball (because they would really care about women's volleyball if they weren't the only school that was any good at it).

In the end, the results completely outweigh the negatives by a factor of about a billion. But go in the mind of the Penn State student who tweeted the amounts at Olbermann. Why do you think he was doing it? What was his tweet really saying to Keith? I'd bet all the amount of THON money that it was more "Look at how righteous Penn State football is" and less "Look at what great things can be accomplished".
