Penn State Cult (Joe Knew)

Tom and crew love to circle jerk and bukkake each other over the thought that Joesus may have looked in their general direction while attending a game at the world's largest erector set.

What made you think they would be open to differing opinions?

Cults gotta cult.

Our offense sucked once Barrett tweaked his knee and they throttled it back. Fuck them and their defense.
Their defense needs no excuses. They were among the nations best last year. http://www.ncaa.com/stats/football/fbs/current/team/22

Their offense, on the other hand was one dimensional. And without Hack staying upright all season they would not have had a decent season.
But we know they have had two very good coaching staffs, now.
O'Brien was n excellent coach . Now in the NFL.
And Franklin has a history of being an excellent recruiter and a solid coach. Now, he has a better "vehicle" for his abilities.
The series with them just got better. And this helps the whole conference .
As for their asshole fans. They are in a class of themselves for low life's And the nation sees this..

http://bwi.forums.rivals.com/threads/franklin-gets-it.14397/

Beyond even the NCAA sanctions' impact on the program, the perception of Penn State's strength is tied largely to successes that are now nearly three decades past, Franklin opined.
"I think that's natural. I think it's magnified at a place like Penn State," Franklin said, suggesting a demographic would likely reveal "a little older" fan base. "And they still think it's 1986. And that's what they remember. That's when they got such strong feelings for the place."

No link provided on where this guy got the quote. It could be completely made-up. But it sounds to me like Franklin is unhappy that he's fighting the fans' perception that they should be 1980's Penn State. Kinda like early 2000's Michigan State fans thinking they should be 1960's Michigan State. Or fans of ANY Saturday Night Live year thinking the show has really gone downhill since 5 years before that.

Maybe it's easy for me to poke fun at these other teams for remembering their "good ol' days". But it's more than that: it's a lot of fun. Screw you guys!

They actually think they're going to get the stadium renamed for him. That's hilarious.

PSU 00 "I'm not sure I'd want the stadium named after him. (Good thinking, I mean do you want to call attention to a pedophile enabler?) That's what you see football factories do often. (Oh I see. You don't have anything against enablers, you just don't want to see a "Woody Hayes Stadium" or "Fielding Yost Stadium" or "Duffy Daugherty Stadium." I'd rather see the Paterno Library (But you'd name the most significant building on any campus after an enabler?) and maybe the Joe and Sue Paterno Alumni Center, (Welcome back for Homecoming alums, and while we're at it let's think about the couple that put us in the National Shame Spotlight!) or on something to do with teaching the Classics, (Those Greeks and Romans were manly men and they showered with young boys.) or replacing Erickson on his building."

the other thread is even worse. plenty of idiots who claim that "Joe would never want that". Right....that guy wasn't concerned at all about his legacy or what people thought of him. Not at all.

I've pointed it out previously that this fake outward modesty of Paterno is literally Stalinist. Stalin would always protest that he never wanted all of those towns and farms and factories named after him. He was only reluctantly bowing to the will of his beloved workers and peasants. Of course, it was absolutely understood that you name all this stuff after him and put up statues of him all over the country or you would catch a bullet in the back of the neck. Joesus' over-the-top protestations of modesty strike me as exactly the same way. Had the scandal never erupted, I have no doubt that the stadium would have been named after him while, all the while, he gave public statements saying that he didn't really want or deserve it but pity the administrator or trustee who actually tried to prevent it from happening.

Not sure if this was meant to be sarcastic, but male relations were considered an important part of Greek military culture. Including older veterans "tutoring" the younger recruits in ways that would make Sandusky giggle in glee. Particularly in Sparta where the boys would all be housed in a barracks from an early age.

So I suppose putting his name on the Classics building would make some sense, if they're already willing to excuse the fact that Paterno played no part in teaching whatsoever.
