Penn State Cult (Joe Knew)

http://www.foxsports.com/college-fo...tech-hokies-big-ten-media-days-mailbag-072915

From Stewart Mandel's mailbag, question was about Snyder at KSU wanting his son to follow him, compared to PSU/Joesus and JayPa:
Ultimately, it's not an exact parallel. Paterno, as has been well-documented, called all the shots in Happy Valley. The president and AD were his puppets. Snyder, though he carries a lot of weight, works for two of the more influential voices in college athletics in AD John Currie and president Kirk Schulz (who serves on the NCAA Executive Committee). When the time comes, they'll hire whoever they think's best for the job, be it Sean Snyder or an outsider.
Someone alert the cult, there's FAX and EVIDENTS that need to be corrected.

I'm honestly not sure why the whole "don't ruin the weekends thing" still has traction.

It "still has traction" because basically, it summarizes the whole who-gives-a-shit, don't-rock-the-boat, never-disparage-our-beloved-Joesus-and-his-Nittany Lion-football-program, overall lack of urgency with which Joesus and the rest of the administration at PedSU handled the entire incident.

A lot of people knew Jerry had been accused of abusing kids what, 10 years prior, but yet none of them stepped in to make sure it never happened again. Hell, if a co-worker of mine were ever investigated for something like that, you can bet that at a minimum, that s.o.b. will never spend so much as a second alone with a child again, at least not as long as I can help it. At a minimum, Joesus had the kind of authority to make that happen....and he did nothing.

Maybe it's because Joesus himself said it?

Link

I can do links too. This link provides his FULL answer to the question. Note the first sentence --- he noted right away that he wasn't sure he was being precise. Which is fair, given it was 9.5 years later.

As I've said before, there are plenty of things to criticize Paterno for, but this "not interfere with the weekends" thing would not be on the list. He explicitly caveated that he wasn't sure if he was being precise, and as the Freeh Report itself showed, he DID "interfere with their weekend."

Well, I can’t be precise.

I ordinarily would have called people right away, but it was a Saturday morning and I didn’t want to interfere with their weekends.

So I don’t know whether I did it Saturday or did it early the next week.

I’m not sure when, but I did it within the week.

Speaking of fun games to play...lets read something else into his statement and see if it still makes sense;

Well, I can’t be precise.

Maybe he can't be precise about which time someone came to him with a report about Sandusky fucking little boys?

I’m not sure when, but I did it within the week

Sounds like the sense of urgency a rational person would have in dutifully reporting a noisy neighbor

Not quite sure if that level of lethargy is appropriate for the, alleged, first time you heard one of your coaches was butt fucking a little boy in the locker room showers. Unless of course it wasn't the first time.
