Penn State Cult (Joe Knew)

Like a lot of college campuses, there are many who just don't care about football and are there for an education. Even at Ped State. They find this stuff embarrassing and a blemish on their time there. I can't imagine doing a job interview out of state and an interviewer mentioning what happened there. I could see that happening. Say the wrong thing in an interview and you're done. Even if it's not education or experience related.

Looking through the threads about the "Joe Out" on BWI and Audibles, I was actually surprised how many Cult members were lukewarm or evenly openly against the idea. I was shocked to see multiple posters try to reason with the true believers that the "Joe Out" just opens themselves up to again get called a Cult by the rest of the country and provides a forum for columnists to opine that Penn St. fans and alums still don't get it. Naturally, such voices wre largely shouted down by the hardcore Joebots angrily declaring that they don't care what the rest of the country thinks.

The "Joe Out" (and the dropping of sanctions) seems to have inspired more fanbases to come out of the woodwork and troll BWI than has occured in a while. The more astute members of The Cult seem to realize that the "Joe Out" is pushing the envelope too far with regard to what the rest of the country will tolerate. At this point, supporting Joe Paterno is akin to just openly supporting pedophilia as far as national public opinion goes.

Personally not interested in voting -- it's meant to be an internal vote, not a national referendum.
I'm interested to see same as @LostLassie ... how mainstream is this bs really? That there's a very extreme and loud minority is undeniable, but I keep hoping the mainstream sees the light. And I keep seeing indications that it's more than a minority. The alumni-voted BoT members, the spontaneous rally, these poll results, etc.

I can tell you, and @BuckeyeNation27 can attest too, it goes far beyond even the alumni. It's an infection within that state, especially the central and western parts of it.

Don't get me wrong, Southeastern PA Buck Hunter mkes me weep for humanity. But I have always thought "pnnylion" was the craziest Cultist. That dude is such a Joebot that he has been banned and forced to come out with new names many times on Audibles (Harvey23 is pnnylion's current moniker on Audibles). Even fellow Cult members regularly call out pnnylion on Audibles for being a nut. Read the comments section of any negative artiicle about Penn St./Paterno and there is a good chance that pnnylion/John Tratur will be in the comments section. In the past, pnnylion/Tratur has scoured various rivals sites and left nasty comments in the profiles of anyone who speaks ill of Paterno.

I am sure most people on here are familiar with indynittany's body of work on message boards everywhere, but 9Fold and Chi Town Lion also make for delightful reading.
