Penn State Cult (Joe Knew)

The timing and the amount of money lead me to believe that this is indeed a move to embarrass Franklin and others at PSU.
I can tell you from experience that injured players are unable to perform and by and large of no use in game competition. I don't believe that Franklin wanted athletes that were injured and if so only capable of playing at a percentage of their ability to participate.
This might be the case in high school where there may be a large talent gap between 1st and 2nd string....or where sheer numbers( of eligible players) are an issue.
If the employer isn't satisfied with the job you do......he gets someone else. Everyone is a victim today...booohooo

These people probably still believe in the Great Pumpkin and the Tooth Fairy too....

As a physician myself, I would judge this as an odd move for him to take. There's more to this story.
There's always more to the fucking story when it comes to these assholes. It's never a possibility that mayyyyyyyyyyyyyybe your program isn't as pristine as you think it is. There's always something nefarious afoot looking to bring down the mighty Penn State football machine.

I went to Crappy Valley once, using tickets given to me by a PoSU alumnus of all things (work). I'll never go to a game there again.

I was treated better at Ann Arbor. With rivals there's a modicum of respect underneath the hate. With wannabes there's only contempt.

Try. But why do I in no way, shape or form wannabe them but still feel contempt?

Their contempt is because they're wannabes. Ours exists because we're human beings, and recognize redneck cult worshipers - who will go so far as to rationalize pedophilia - when we see them.

Question from afar.
Is the the invite extended to Penn State the biggest mistake Delaney made in his career as B1G commish?

Look at how the landscape changed since 1990.

The Big East doesn't exist. The ACC is a 1 team league. At the time when Penn State joined, Georgia Tech was falling down again after its 1990 mythical national championship, FSU was at its all time high and you'd have 1 or 2 teams usually in the top 20 and there was literally no one else except for the odd year where North Carolina was relevant.

More to the point, and this is much more in line with a different thread, conference alignments are as much academic as they are sports-related. Joe Pedterno was all for Big Ten membership because of the sports related membership but the Penn State academia was in it because of the CIC. Remember too that the Academic part of N_tre _ame was all for joining the Big Ten but the powers that be shot it down. In those terms, the ACCAC isn't nearly on the same level despite their attempts and the Big East and SEC had no such thing at the time.

Anyway - as @BN27 said - someone had to keep the mutants in check. Thankfully them being 4th fiddle in the B1G most of the time they've been in the conference has largely done that.

If someone is being fair and objective --- there is no doubt to the answer to that question. It was an undeniable win-win situation for both parties.

For those old enough to remember (or for those who have read their history), Illinois and Ohio State were #1 and #2, in that order, in being the biggest PSU proponents.

The vote, when it occurred, went 7-3. 2/3 was the threshold, so PSU got in by a vote. Michigan, MSU and Indiana were the No votes. Northwestern was the swing Yes vote.
