I just read about this on wikipedia.

If Jim Tressel beats Penn State, he will have tied Woody Hayes in all time wins as a head coach.

This will not, however, have a better winning percentage.

It will be 8 years faster than Woody Hayes as well.

In Woody's defense, he played far fewer games per year back then. If I was to guess he only played 10-11 most seasons including the bowl game. Perhaps some of the history buffs or old timers could help us out with that nugget.

9 games + Bowl.

This was by no means meant to diminish Woody in any way.

For anyone confused like I was, this is taking into account Tressels record at YSU.

Woody coached 28 years and won 205 games at OSU.

Tress is still 8-9 wins behind Coop on the OSU list.

That's misleading. Woody won 238 in 320 games. JT will win 238 in 319 games by beating PSU this weekend. The records are virtually identical.

It's good to be a Buckeye to have had Woody and JT for almost 4 decades, and counting. :)

As far as I know, the Big Ten rule of no night games in November still exists, and will likely make this a 3:30 kickoff.

Talk about stupid, cut your visibility to the region and the nation by 1/3. You sure don't see the SEC, Big 12 or Pac 10 pulling this kind of nonsense.

I think that the rule has to do with the effects of the cold evening temperatures.

I know, it gets sooooo cold in November that the NFL moves all their games to Florida.

Well, gosh, Cinci. You DO have a point. Why not sit down and write the BigTen commish a pointed letter and just set them all straight? Could help us all out, if you can spare the time.
