Northland coach Satch Sullinger

The front doors at Northland High School likely never felt so heavy to Jared Sullinger as they did yesterday morning. Like trying to move a mountain of guilt heavier than any snowcapped granite peak.
On Saturday, the 6-foot-7 sophomore forward sat on the bench in street clothes -- suspended one game for failing to keep up with his schoolwork -- while his Vikings teammates watched their season end when Westerville South upset them 67-59 in a Division I district semifinal in the Ohio Expo Center Coliseum.

"You can't be successful when your assignments are not turned in, when you say you're doing your homework and you're not," he said, referring to Jared.

"I've been talking academics with him all along and threatening to do this and do this," he said, confirming that Jared already was on academic probation. "I already took his Italy trip away from him. It's like when you tell your kid to be home by midnight and he comes in at 12:10 a.m.. Then it's 12:20 a.m. You either have to draw the line or get rid of the rule. It was finally time where enough was enough."

Like to see his continued dominance...Sounds like he is in even better shape than he was during the season...

His game kinda reminds me of Kevin Love at this point, without the jumper out behind the line, but he does have it out to 15 foot...

The story above has this quote in it:

This weekend, Sullinger and his All-Ohio Red squad, which also includes key Ohio State recruit Adreian Payne of Dayton Jefferson, will be on display in the massive King James Shooting Stars Classic in Akron.

Is there something happening here?

He is a key recruit...He is probably next in line for an offer at PF...Thus he is a key recruit...

But back to Sullinger...BTW Junkie the thread title still has him as a SF, and he won't ever see a minute at SF here...:wink2:

Sullinger Surpasses AAU Competition.........Sullinger has been impressive in the early AAU season. Sullinger helped All-Ohio Red to the 16U title at the King James event. Wants to continue to increase his endurance and says he keeps in touch with all the recruits in the 2010 class and states that DeShaun Thomas continues to say he is a Buckeye.

If Sullinger adds another 3 to 4 inches he is going to be unstoppable...And could be a one and done type player...

If he only adds 1-2 inches he is going to be a very good player at the college level and will need 2 years or so here...
If that is the case, I hope that he grows only 2 inches and then he can grow another inch or two while he is a junior at Ohio State:biggrin2:

The way he is developing and his knowledge of the game at this stage, it would not suprise me to see him as a 1 and done player at tOSU.....he is clearly dominating his peers.....I would like to see him go up a level and play against some 2009 elite.....

I agree, but when you have the most dominant team at a level it is hard to break it up...

I wouldn't mind, if they get Payne back seeing them play up in a tourney or two, but the ultimate goal I am sure is for them to win nationals, and they will probably do that at the U16 level...

I was just thinking. Anyone think it's possible Sullinger develops into a Josh Smith type player?

Josh Smith is 6'9" 235. Sullinger is 6'7" 220. I know Sullinger is working on developing that inside/outside game that Smith has currently. I'm not sure Sullinger is as instinctive a defender as Smith is, though I could easily see Sullinger being better offensively at the same stage in their careers.
