The next day....I still feel JT did a pretty solid job, a job done well enough to get the W. I give him a ton of props for picking himself up after 7 sacks and under constant pressure but still willing to stay in the pocket and stepping up into his throws.

Lots of drops (ugh, Corey....), rotten OL play, questionable play calling, no run game....lots of issues caused this loss but I won't put any on JT. I didn't care to watch any replays of the last INT so not sure if it was a misread on his part or Corey's, any one have enough of a stomach left to review?

I thought he did fine playing behind our porous O-Line.

He needs to learn how to put touch on the ball when throwing the short throws. Especially the ones to the corner of the end zone. That will come in time.

I have to blame the deep interceptions to the coaching staff. After the first 3rd and long int they should have told him not to throw it deep on 3rd and long because of the deep safety. And again to the coaching, how about a few screen passes against the pressure.

Biggest complaint for JT, and this is a first impression as I watched last night so I could be wrong, but he was was absolutely LOCKED on the left side of the field. Didn't look right for blitz pickups. Didn't look right for pressure. And didn't look right to pass.

Whether that was coaching, playcalling, inexperience of only knowing/focusing on 1 progression, comfort with a receiver, getting pounded all night by a undermanned O-Line, or just a bad habit...I don't know.

One particular play was late when a VaTech corner was just giving away his blitz at the top and the WR (Michael Thomas) did his job by peeling into a quick release hot route to make himself available, but JT never even looked that way. Blind side sack. Would have/should have been a 7-10 yard pick up if he throws the quick hit pass to his WR at the line.

He looked like a freshman. And one that wasn't put into a position to succeed by a combination of his offensive line and, more expressly, his coaches.

101 yards came on 6 carries. (25,20,13,11,10,22)
That's called coverage runs. Everyone was covered, that's why Urban likes mobile QB's.
Barrett's not a great runner, but he is mobile. He's not shifty like Braxton but he is athletic.

I would consider him a good running quarterback. Maybe not great, but definitely good.
