Questions from a newby

He sort of embraced and owned the new jersey though; so it could be said that this was the most controversial thing he's done (apart from keeping his OL coach of course).

I'm dumbfounded how he has remained in that position for so long when we were calling for his head from the earliest stages of the Vest's tenure.

Well the sleeves did resemble some others (like the Hawkeyes, Steelers), and the new stripes are traditional (OSU used to have the helmet stripe on the jersey), but by and large folks disliked the change. That transition also involved a transition to wearing jerseys that look like the petite girls replica jersey, with tiny numbers and sleek stitching and stripes:

They also used to have pants that matched the helmet until 05, when they subbed in transparent dirty white pants, which have been replaced by a color best resembling a dirty wall. Now OSU just taunts us by wearing them as practice and spring game pants.

From afar our jerseys look like Nebraska or Wisconsin, because the red stripe just looks like empty space between white stripes and the black stripes are imperceptible from a distance. The stripes are also small and wrinkled most of the time.

Here's an animated gif of how they look and how they should've IMO.

Here is a long thread on uniform changes, Max & I have spent a few years in that thread:
Jersey / Uniform Discussion (Merged)

This post covers the majority of our argument:

Max just hates it when people discuss uniforms around here. He also hates puppies, beer, and Jesus, so feel free to ignore him.
He doesn't hate Jesus, but Jesus hates his hatred, so it evens out.

It could be worse. They could go back to those horrid "throwback" jerseys they wore for the Michigan game last year. :( The horror!

Man. Those jerseys were sweeeeet!

With respect to jersey tradition, red, just listen to jwinslow. He knows shit about our uniforms that Nike never heard of.

Well for my part, I'll never understand why such a distinguishing thing was removed. It functioned as a trademark. One quick glance at those sleeves and one knew instantly it was tOSU.

You and I will get along very well. The "new jersey" stripe would easily fit in at Rutgers, Cincinnati, Georgia, Texas Tech, Wisconsin or NEBRASKA. It was the grey that made it distinctive -- something I pointed out ad nauseam on the site. You don't screw around with trademarks.

The new stripe and the God awful throw up costume dreamed up by the cross dressing department at Nike for the Michigan game are part of the price the football program has paid for accepting money from Phil Knight.

Come to think of it, wouldn't your uniform look better if the helmet were yellow and had little beads of corn imprinted on it and then make the pants and the front of the jersey look like bib overalls? Phil Knight can fix you right up.

Wish I could pay them to not wear them again...hideous...esp. the helmets.

(I heard Betty White tried on a version Nike designed for M*ch*g*n, and it made her play like Tate Forcier.)

Hummmmmmmm I've seen the acronyms "TSUN" & "SCUM" used fequently and being new around hear do not know what these are referring too. Please clue me in. Thanks in advance from a new kid on the block.
Both refer to Michigan.
TSUN - That School Up North... or That State Up North. Usually the first one
scUM - A little play-on-words with UM (University of Michigan)

There are others for scUM like Missigan and M*ch*g*n and I'm sure many others. We also have a few for Notre Dame like NoD (injecting the 'o' to their typical abbreviation of ND which refers to their lack of a defense in recent years) or Ntre Ame (leaving out both the 'o' and the 'd' which refers to both their lack of offense and defense in recent years).
