RB Carlos "El Guapo" Hyde (Official Thread)

He ran with power, made great cuts to find the hole, and basically trucked over people every time he ran the ball. If he keeps getting carries and gets more experience, he has the potential to be another great Ohio State running back. Can't wait to see what he does in the future. Congrats to the players on the win.

He seemed to have a great burst through the line for a guy his size. He is definitely using his size when he runs though. Very impressive. I wouldn't be surprised to see the name Beanie Wells mentioned in this thread a lot more.

Going back a little bit, but I see Joe Montgomery.

Hyde had a nice day, but I don't see a player who will displace Hall or Herron this season.

Nor would you since Hyde is a COMPLETLY different style of back.

Really glad Hall will return next week, but his scat style needs to be complimented by the thunder of someone like Hyde.

I want to say I was really impressed today.. Those numbers versus Nebraska I'm feeling REALLY good, but Akron and under 5 ypc? I guess I WANTED more but never felt disappointed all day!

Could have been worse, he could have ran like Trent Richardson...

13 carries for 33 yards vs. the vaunted Kent State D. That comes out to about 2.54 yards-per-carry, scary stuff.

Re-watched the game and was even more impressed for his first effort in a Buckeye uniform. He picks up his blocking assignments and people stay blocked! He gave extra effort yesterday and it showed. He wants to be
The Man and that's great to see in a young guy with talent. He's not the most shifty guy but he is deceivingly shifty. He's got speed and power and is still learning to read his line blocking. He held onto the damn ball! He looks durable and punishing. He looks like a nice fit in the I formation run game. Well done, Cheese!
Of interest, Smith looks like more of an I formation back also. Wonder if we're heading more in that direction?
