RB Ezekiel Elliott (All B1G, All-American, National Champion, Pro Bowl, All Pro, Dallas Cowboys)

From watching more of the LSU Syracuse game than I should have, I think the ESPN/SEC Ministry of Truth has quietly come to the conclusion they don't have a playoff caliber team and are therefore going all in on Fournette for Heisman

That said, best player on the best team always has a shot if his stats are even close

I don't know if Fournette is the best player in the country, but he is pretty good and fun to watch.

I personally think Fournette is better than Zeke. I would like to see Zeke break more tackles. I also don't like that he carries the ball in his right hand even when running left. He already fumbled once because he had it in the wrong arm going left vs Northern Ill. He can't use a stiff arm when running left and carrying the ball in the right hand. He had several opportunities yesterday where he was one on one with a DB and was tackled. A great back cannot get tackled one on one, it is his job to either make him miss or break a tackle. The TD Samuel ran would have been a 12 yard gain with Zeke.

He carried it in his right all last year. I imagine it's just habit.

He prefers jumping 6 ft in the air over defenders who are trying to tackle him. Perhaps you missed that part.

Jesus, are we really getting to the point where a nice run by our backup "H", a run that looked much like about a dozen Zeke runs from last year by the way, suddenly makes Zeke, who is almost inarguably the best all-around player on the offense, a team leader, and a BEAST on the field, someone to be taken for granted or even disparaged? Are we going to call for McMullen next?

Yeah, I'm not liking anything at all about this post.

There were some articles, and I believe Zeke even said himself, after his surgery he was going to be able to carry the ball in both hands which would make him better. I am not sure why he isn't doing it? It is a pretty well known fundamental of carrying the ball that you want it in your outside arm, for several reasons.

I am a fan of Zeke, he is a devastating blocker, outstanding receiver, and great kid from all accounts. I just would like to see him fix his ball handling and would like to see him break some more tackles.

High-Flying Ezekiel Elliott Getting Back into a Rhythm

ElliottHurdle.jpg

Ezekiel Elliott became household name in college football circles last year and some of that is due to his high-flying heroics. Not only has the Ohio State running back gone airborne to get into the end zone in short yardage situations, but also to avoid defenders with the hurdle.

“My first time hurdling someone in football was last year when we played Alabama,” Elliott said after the Buckeyes’ 38-12 victory over Western Michigan. “This year it’s been a real emphasis it seems like for the defenses to cut tackle me and I’m tired of taking those shots to the leg, those thigh bruises. So I decided to go up top a couple of times.”

Elliott used his hops to avoid defenders against the Broncos and got the more than 106,000 fans in attendance on their feet by doing so.

The St. Louis native made waves last year with his performances in the College Football Playoff, helping OSU win their first national championship since 2002.

Although he has extended his streak of 100-yard rushing games to nine, Elliott’s statistics haven’t picked up where they left off to end last season when he was averaging just over 185 yards through the last five games.

So far this year, Elliott is averaging just over 113 yards per game on the ground and has five touchdowns. While many running backs around the country would be happy with these numbers, they don’t live up to the Heisman Trophy-billing that was attached to Elliott in the preseason.

On Saturday, as the offense began to get into a rhythm for the first time since the opener, Elliott started to look more like the running back he was at the end of 2014.

“We put in a great work week and it really showed today,” Elliott said postgame. “I think another thing that helped us was that we kinda got to play against a four-down defense, a more conventional set that we like to play against and that definitely helped us.”
