RB/WR Curtis Samuel (Washington Commanders)

Agreed. Samuel is too light to be an every down back. However, if he doesn't gain weight, we can use him in combination with Dunn. Dunn being our bruising, short yardage guy.

What I love about Urban is that he thinks outside of the box and doesn't mind being unconventional with his set ups.
I like the thought of Samuel remaining at his current weight and having a RBBC. Samuel doesn't need to be an every down RB, but one that can be either a change of pace or our versatile RB while Dunn is the battering ram. And don't count out Weber also, he could turn out to be an every down RB down the line but at the least split carries with the other two.

I'll be surprised if we see Dunn taking too many carries away from the young guys.....have to imagine Samuel starts at RB and will get the lions share; selfless, knows the system, blocks, catches and becomes a diverse threat, great hands....he fits our offense. Dunn has had a long history of securing the football and running the option that's a recipe for disaster. I think Weber will get a bulk also with Williams being a wild card, if he stays healthy I can see him getting some spots.

I believe we'll see Mike Weber emerge as our base #1 RB to replace Zeke next season, with a healthy dose of Dunn as support leaving Samuel where he belongs at H-back. I fully expect to see Samuel more involved next season, especially catching passes out of the backfield or on quick screens - getting him in space. He has shown he has great hands to go along w/his quick feet. We'll have some growing pains in some areas offensively next year, but I'm comfortable where we are on that side of the ball.

Im just gonna say this- we haven't seen how Curtis will do when given consistent touches with the offense featuring him as a major point of emphasis. It's hard to get in a rythm when your in this spot. This kid could absolutely BLOW UP next year and I wouldn't be surprised one bit.

I see your point, but I see Samuel as RB1, because I see him being able to do all of those things that you mentioned about Weber and still being able to catch out of the backfield. I don't see Samuel at HB, because I can see Wilson being there and finally stepping up with Campbell backing him up. I think Samuel was an HB because the staff didn't want him sitting even though they knew that Zeke was going to play, he was that good. Dunn may be The odd man outs because he's on a shorter leash than the other 2, IMO due to his classification. I think we see growing pains because one of the biggest games ofnthe year against Oklahoma and its early.

Will have to agree to disagree on this one, but I see your point as well and either way, we have a good problem ahead of us. I simply don't see Samuel being strong enough to replace the snaps that Zeke provided when looking for an every down RB to push the defense every snap and wear them down late into games. I think Weber is simply better suited for that - that is still the foundation of our offense. The additional 15-20 pounds that Weber provides, while Samuel is certainly at adequate weight at 200, is a benefit in that role.

I think Samuel is so much more effective in space, when he has the ability to use his vision and quickness to create explosive plays. I hear you on Dontre Wilson, but truly think he has been surpassed by Samuel at this point and has proven to be a little less effective than many thought he would be. I hope I'm wrong, love the kid, but think he's a little smaller and could be used more situationally in the future. I think Campbell becomes an inside WR next season w/some snaps at H-Back to spell Samuel.

Of course all of this is contingent on Weber being healthy. If he is not, then I agree Samuel becomes a bigger factor at RB1. I think Dunn is #2 regardless for many reasons.

I share your concerns regarding the early Oklahoma game, but my bigger concerns there are on the defensive side. That's another discussion for another day lol.

We definitely have some "good problems". Regardless of who's right, if it means the Buckeyes are back to winning the CCG and in the playoffs again then we're all winning!

Our offense will become a true spread next year.Curtis will be a H who gets carries while being motioned into the backfield often. He's to talented to be jus a RB that's making him one dimensional. I believe Urban bring that Florida style offense To Columbus.Curtis remains at H, He's great but not a pure RB..I believe he's at his maximum weight if u look at his frame now he's huge and barely 200lbs..10-15 extra lbs wouldn't sit right

Some of u are confused Samuel was recruited to play H back but urban was surprised how good he was at RB during spring ball and he knew HB last year with Dontre and Jalin he will never learn the position and get on the field,RB is easier to learn..All due Respect I believe only reason Braxton started at H because of the name Samuel was more effective in limited time

Wilson has been getting snaps at H quite a bit the last two games. He has put on considerable weight. The dudes arms are getting huge.

I think he will see a lot of action next year if he stays healthy. They obviously like what he does or he wouldn't be playing like he did the last couple of games.

No RB in an Urban Meyer offense is just an RB, they also need to catch, as Zeke did that this and last year. So Curtis being a RB wouldn't matter as he'd never be one dimensional RB. Like I said before, Curtis would be very successful in a committee approach with Weber and Dunn.

And actually, Samuel was recruited to play RB, but was willing to play HB. My friend coached him and is a close family friend who was with him through his recruitment(as also through Jahsen Wint) and Meyer told him throughout the process that he wanted him as a home run threat at RB like Chris Rainey. Samuel was willing to change positions this year to see the field as the staff didn't want him sitting behind Zeke.
And actually Samuel wasn't very good at Samuel during camp, that's why he slipped on the charts. He couldn't catch very well, Braxton had better hands and ran better routes, and was a more effective blocker on the edges. Samuel was always a RB, but yet he never learned to block effectively which is integral to the position at RB also. Samuel still had a lot to learn at both positions. Neither were that effective because the offense didn't go to them all that often.
