Reds Tidbits (2013 Season)

Mesoraco is night and day different from last year. Professional at-bats every time out so far. It may not last but at least there's hope.

I know right? I was trying to argue for Votto the other night but he's not the same person. It looks like his head is fucked up more than his knee. He isnt even offering at pitches the same way he used to.

I've only been able to watch one game since last Monday because of stupid campus cable, but I'd agree with Votto. Just through gamecast, he had the bases loaded. Last year Votto would've gotten at least one run in. Tonight it was a double play. Doesn't seem the same.

Ouch. Well, he still is playing great defense and doesnt appear to be hampered in his movement. Maybe he's just shocked that the other guys are hitting the ball so he's saving his for later?

He's still on base over 50% of the time and Brandon+Frazier are beasts right now. Might as well go with it until he goes postal or ends up in the loony bin.

I agree, Votto does not look comfortable at the plate and has uncharacteristically come up short in RISP situations. As was pointed out, Votto is getting on base more than 1/2 the time he comes up, and is hitting .277. I'm not ready to call him Ryan Howard 2.0 just yet. He'll come around. Last year he hit .289 in April, with only 2 HR, so he's not far off numbers wise from where he was a year ago.
