Rich Rodriguez (official thread of last laughs)

USF and Pitt? Does anyone here(besides the delusional scUM homer) really think Dick Rod had the less talented team in those games?

Thats been my whole point with his big game choking, he WAS the big boy of the BE. He was the bigest guy on a block full of asthmatic nerds and got his ass kicked by them when he tried to be the bully.

USF probably has more NFL talent than WVU.

One could make an argument that Pitt does as well.

Outside of Slaton, Dykes, and Devine is there even anybody on that WVU team that is a legitimate NFL prospect? Pat White is a great athlete, great college player, but he's not going to sniff the NFL.

West Virginia has 8 former players active on 53 man game day rosters in the NFL right now.

Pitt has 17 former players active on 53 man game day rosters, and USF has 6 former players active on 53 man game day rosters.

This notion that WVU is or has been loaded in comparison to Pitt and USF is just laughable. Pitt will always put out NFL players as the state of Pennsylvania is one of the most fertile for talent in America. South Florida is getting more and more talent to come to USF instead of going to Florida, Miami, and FSU. They are in THE most fertile recruiting state in the country and will be a power-team very soon. USF is a beautiful campus and is the second largest school in the state.

So, I take it that you are of the belief that the four Big East Championships during RR's reign is because of his superior coaching ability and not because he has better players?

That must be why it was a 4 TD point spread. :roll2:

So who are all of these NFL players on Pitt's roster?

I don't need a link. I watched him play.

Most of his snaps were from the shotgun, and when they threw the ball most of the time they used 4 wide sets.
 no, no.. can you provide a link to back up what you're saying?

Someone else here, who is much more credible than yourself, is contradicting you.

At any rate - :oh: Just trust the coaches.

Who are all of these NFL players on WVU's roster?

Right now Pitt has over twice the amount of active NFL players as WVU.

Pitt has recruited some pretty good players over the past 2-3 classes.

I would not be surprised at all to see the following wind up in the NFL over the next 2 years;

Jeff Otah (OT)
Aaron Berry (CB)
Scott McKillop (LB)
LeSean McCoy (RB)
Nate Bynham (TE)

There are some others that will probably be in the NFL in the next 3-4.

And just look at their class this year.

Lucas Nix is rated by Scout and Rivals as a 5* and one of the top 5 OT's in the country. Jonathan Baldwin was offered by everybody and is thought by many to be one of the top 5 receiver prospects in the country.

We seem to have gotten away from one of the most important parts of this thread: What are we going to call the new coach of TSUN?

I have seen, Rich Rod, Dick Rod, Dick Wad, Rod Wad, I haven't yet seen a mention of sCUM Rod....any others to add? We should probably poll this too. When my youngest son (a 5th grader.....I know maybe too old for this) gets back from visiting grandparents in C-Bus, I will have him read through the thread and compile a complete list, and see if he has any to add too. :wink2:

Lots of stuff lately from a semi-troll (troll like, but literate and making an attempt to be sort of logical) what gets me is the claim that rr outcoaches others (Pitt, USF) because they have more talent. First they may have more NFL talent, but is that because of gimmicky O and D schemes that do little or nothing to prepare players for the NFL ? Or is rr so inept at recruiting that even as the big dog in the Big East (after Miami, BC, and Vtech defected) he could not out recruit the sisters of the poor.

I am well aware that Pitt and USF have much more fertile ground to recruit, but rr knew this and needed to go elsewhere to get his recruits, an offensive guru and inventor of such a successfull offense and defense should have drawn attention from top recruits everywhere (egad, even Florida and Pennsylvania) By the way if you did not notice, Michigan is not a fertile HS football state either, so rr will have to recruit elsewhere.

I think rr is an excellent coach and will do well at scUM, but if you don't think he has choked in big games, just look at sideline film from the USF and Pitt games and tell me his crying and gyrating did not affect his players ablility to stay focused and confident.

Not that you had any before but you just lost all credibility.

4TD underdog Pitt actually had more talent than WVU, really? The 5-7 Pitt team that lost to Navy and could only beat Syracuse by a FG? That loaded Pitt team?

I don't know what you have on BKB to get him to vouch for you but he must have been doing something pretty damn bad when you had a camera handy.

If you are actually friends, you aren't doing him any favors with your act.
