Rivals/Scout/etc. National & Regional Rankings

Anyone who doubts the superiority of the S-E-C right now should take a look at where Top247 recruits are planning to (and in some cases have already) matriculate(d). Bama, aTm, Georgia, LSU, Tennessee and Auburn all have double-digit recruits in the Top247 list. No B1G school other than tOSU has more than five. Much as I hate to hear all the fawning of the national media over that conference, they do have a point.

You have to have the Jimmys and Joes; X's and O's won't get you all the way there. Thank goodness we have Urban Meyer at the helm.

And we know that 247 doesn't have an SEC bias or anything... :so:

Not disagreeing with you, there are 5-6 teams in the SEC that get top recruiting classes, whereas every other conference only has 1, maybe 2. They also only develop those top kids for 3 years, whereas most teams that don't get quite so many elite players only lose 1 or 2 Juniors every year, the SEC teams repeatedly put out 5+ juniors every year. I think that levels the playing field slightly. Player development is just as important as bringing in top guys, and losing that final year of development for all of your best players can really hurt.

The SEC goes all out for football recruiting. It says something also when ole miss had the great class they had last year, and Uk of al places is having a great class as well this year. UK! Arkansas even got some big steals last year. Sec definitely goes all out for recruiting. Most big 10 teams seem too lazy to put forth more effort in recruiting.

It's awesome to see the top 247 list. I'm ecstatic for erick smith, and to get him on campus. I'm very puzzled how marshon, parris, Curtis and big Meech slid down thou since all had great seasons.

outside of Samuel (who honestly probably was too high as a 5-star) the others you mention slid down because of players below them moved up in the rankings. In order for Erick Smith to move way up like he did...the others that were ahead of him naturally slide down a tad.

A pretty good list from Scout. I really like how they balance on field results, combines, and AA game/practice performances. I feel like Rivals really weds themselves to combine performances and doesn't take into account senior campaigns very much.

Although Webb is ranked about the same on every site, I really think he would be a 5 star had he not committed so early...really see 5 star talent in him. I also think everyone but 247 has Samuel too low. Knox is a little low on Scout too and Holmes had a great showing at the AA game. However, I can forgive them considering the Hubbard ranking

RB(and actually anyone else who'd care to answer as well), who do you think is an underrated player that could do big things during his buckeye career? I know its a completely objective question, and actually pretty tough since our class is so highly rated. My money is on terry McLaren(run tmc) and/or Kyle trout. Trout seems like he has a great work ethic and will get the job done and won't be in headlines but will be consistent. And Terry is a extremely hard worker who I had the pleasure to watch on multiple occasions, and only got better doing anything his team needed of him, from switching to RB at times or being used as a decoy in games because opposing teams targeted him so much. And oh yeah, the kid is crazy fast. Sign me up for seeing a race between Devin smith, dontre Wilson, parris campbell, Curtis Samuel and mclaurin

It's kind of difficult to answer this question, because so many of the Buckeye recruits are so highly rated. But I will go with Malik Hooker, who has the size and athleticism to be the safety that Buckeye fans have been waiting for since Kurt Coleman graduated in 2009.

In terms of lower rated prospects, I would have to go with three-star QB Stephen Collier, who could be the next Kenny Guiton or the next Craig Krenzel, depending on how he develops, and who else signs up down the road.
