Yeah, I figured it was an isolated problem. I just wanted to pass the info along so that he knew it was a possibility. Like I said, the strange thing is that he's downloaded about 30-40 songs, and only a handfull will play when not connected to the 'net.

I haven't downloaded any songs, but it sounds like it might be an issue with the gamertag or profile being used. Make sure you're using the profile that was used to download the songs. Otherwise I'd call up MS and/or EA and give them an earful.

Haven't played Rock Band 2 yet, but I've seen videos. So far, none of the Tier 7 Guitar songs look that hard, aside from a few solos. Still, it looks like it will be very fun to play and it should be a fine sequel. It doesn't look to be as good of an upgrade as Guitar Hero to Guitar Hero 2 was, but it will still be a fine edition to the series.

I "beat" RB2 tonight, so I've unlocked all the songs.

Some of the later tiered expert guitar songs are just damn ridiculous. "Pinball Wizard" gives me fits, and "Bodhisattva" has the most impossible solo.


edit: I can't imagine even trying to play "Painkiller" by Judas Priest on expert drums. It sounds insane.

Just got Rock Band 2 today. Drums sound really nice.

Does anyone know if the Guitar Hero drums will work with RB2? It would make the purchase much more justifiable if they were compatible.

I finally got over to my brother's house on Saturday and I downloaded the songs there. Once he found out that XBox Live Silver doesn't allow online gaming and doesn't cost anything, he was willing to get it. So I downloaded the Boston 6-pack and we played all of them. But then something funny happened: we lost a lot of the songs from the original game. I think the reason is that we created a new user ID in order to get on XBox Live. Can anyone confirm that this is normal? So now it looks like we'll have to go out to career mode and unlock the songs again under the new ID. We lost Train Kept a Rollin', Wanted Dead or Alive, Foreplay/Long Time, and even the Rock Band intro song Highway Star! And lots more. All we had left were the ones we downloaded, plus a few others (not more than about 10). Bummer!
