nfl europa averaged 20k fans a year in a shortened season as not to go head to head with the world cup.
well obivously soccer is bigger there, im not arguing that.

I look at rugby and football, and can see rugby exploding here just as i can see football exploding there.. i dont see any reason football couldnt get big over there and in 20-30 years we see a 'european divison' of the nfl

Actually holding players accountable for their actions off the field is great, the punishments going out are only going to improve conduct and help weed out the garbage. That I think is a plus.

Shortening the draft, that's been needed for a while, this thing should not last 2 days, it's pretty stupid, I actually watched the entire first round this year and my fiance was not pleased.

As for moving games out of the country, I disagree with this idea, I understand wanting to get a market out of the country but for me as a fan, I get my season tickets to see my team when they are at home and have a chance to get playoff tickets. I wouldn't be happy if suddenly two Chargers home games were moved because we wanted the French to have an opportunity to see the NFL.

Now for the Super Bowl, I disagree, most fans would love to go to this game and if they can in their life, they are lucky. To add an extra obstacle to get there doesn't feel right. Tickets are already 10K Plus for some seats, now you look for anyone who gets lucky enough to put up another 3-5k in transportation, hotel, and get passports in order and all of that. Doesn't seem right, but this is my initial reaction.

the idea being tossed around now is to add a 17th game, expand the season a tad and make every team play 1 game out of the us. thus selling 'season' tickets at a common site of four games, you would would have 4 cities hosting 4 games (16 games for the 32 teams). the link is provided earlier if you would like to read it.

heck im in a good mood today here i searched for it. http://www.buckeyeplanet.com/forum/showthread.php?t=598900

please explain why football couldn't potentially cacth on.

Please explain why it would. They love their own football and our brand hasn't worked yet, despite the fact that the NFL has placed it rather large cities. Hell, there's alot of people in this country that don't give a fuck about the NFL.

None of the professional leagues have teams outside the US/Canada, and their sports are much more popular around the world.

The NFL does not need the rest of the world to succeed. Maybe they should worry more about why they can't succeed in L.A.

Seems like Goodell should want to have players at camp. Gotta feel bad for Marshall whois trying to win the starting job in GB.

INDIANAPOLIS -- Never one to stir up controversy, Indianapolis Colts coach Tony Dungy nonetheless is taking exception to a league ruling that will keep the team's first-round draft choice away from a mandatory three-day minicamp that began Friday morning.

Wide receiver Anthony Gonzalez, arguably the top slot receiver in the 2007 draft and expected to earn a prominent role in the high-octane Indianapolis offense even as a rookie, was precluded from attending the weekend session because the league ruled that the former Ohio State star had to participate in Reebok's NFL Player Rookie Premier this weekend.

Anyone else really impressed with the way this guy has started out as NFL commissioner?

With the suspension of players, the meeting about a conduct policy, and now this.

He wants to shorten the amount of time that teams have to draft players after the longest first round in history this past draft.

I am impressed, it isn't hard to show up Taglibeau but I think he is doing a good job.

NFL INSIDER
Goodell's proposals could create bigger problems

Sunday, May 20, 2007 Tony Grossi
Plain Dealer Reporter
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell wants to shorten the preseason to three games and shorten the time limit in the first round of the draft to 10 minutes per team.
Fantastic. What fan would disagree with those noble intentions?
But there's more here than meets the eye.
The ideas were floated as trial balloons in time for owners to gather some reaction and formulate their own opinions before the annual NFL spring meeting Tuesday in Nashville, Tenn.
Let's take a closer look at the strings attached to each move.
Shortening the preseason to three games comes with increasing the regular season by one game to 17. That extra game would be played at a neutral site - in international cities or in a U.S. market currently without an NFL team, such as Los Angeles.

NFL's Goodell targets holdouts
Commissioner hopes for pay changes that would get rookies in training camp
By Patrick McManamonBeacon Journal sportswriter
Published on Friday, Aug 17, 2007
BEREA: Roger Goodell did Brady Quinn a huge favor on draft day in New York.
Now Goodell would like to do something to ensure that players like Quinn do not hold out when negotiating their rookie contracts.
''It's one of the issues we've talked with the union about in negotiations, and I think it'll be clearly one of the issues we talk about when we sit down and talk about making changes that we would make to the system,'' Goodell said Thursday during the NFL commissioner's visit to the Browns' training camp. ''What can be done to either eliminate or certainly limit the possibility of players holding out during training camp, particularly rookies?''
Goodell's day started with a morning flight to Detroit, where he said that the money paid to rookies who have yet to play a down may have a negative effect on a team.
