Seahawks (ex-USC) Coach Pete Carroll (official thread)

The only reason Carroll would leave USC is if he knew the hammer was coming down from the NCAA or if somebody would let him play God and be the GM, president, head scout and head coach all in one for an NFL team. He won't leave USC unless he has the same kind of total control he has at SC unless he knows the NCAA is going to act on the myriad of violations at USC that he's been trying to stonewall.

Pete Carroll has resigned as the football coach of the USC Trojans, the Los Angeles Daily News reported Sunday.

Carroll has reached an agreement in principle with the Seattle Seahawks on a deal to be their next head coach, multiple NFL sources confirmed to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter early Saturday morning.

Seahawks chief executive officer Tod Leiweke was in Los Angeles on Sunday to finalize the deal, the Los Angeles Times reported. A Seahawks spokesman declined comment to The Associated Press when asked about a Los Angeles Daily News report that Carroll had resigned.

The cat is out of the bag. Carroll is gone.

There are several indications that support what you say, including at least one report with a link in this thread that says Pete dropped his requirement for total control when the NCAA disallowed the USC petition. Not a good time to be looking at the future as a USC fan and it may not be a good time to be looking back on those NCs either.

Didn't see this yet... Congrats to Riley's agent for getting his client's name in the discussion before Carroll had even left town.

Mike Riley agrees to three-year extension at Oregon St. - NCAA Football - SI.com

The extension was well deserved anyway. These two are a match. It's his hometown and his second stint there. Oregon State isn't going to do any better for a coach and Riley wouldn't possibly come close to meeting expectations at USC.
