SF LaQuinton Ross (Memphis Hustle - NBA G-League)

The fourth, 6-foot-8 wing LaQuinton Ross of Jackson, Miss., apparently is having second thoughts.

Ross made his commitment in August despite never having visited campus. He told Scout.com then that he "liked what (the Buckeyes) did with Evan Turner last year."

But last week he told his hometown newspaper, The Clarion-Ledger, that while he is committed to Ohio State and feels it "is the best school for me right now," he might not sign until April.

He might be reconsidering Mississippi State, with whom two AAU teammates, Rodney Hood and Deville Smith, are expected to sign this week.

"They're like brothers," the AAU team's coach, Omhar Carter, said of the three.

Ross transferred from his Jackson high school to Life Center Academy in Burlington, N.J., in January and has written on his Twitter account that he misses home.

Life Center Academy coach Wilson Arroyo said in an e-mail last week that he believed Ross would make an official visit to Ohio State this weekend. But Arroyo has not responded since to calls and e-mails attempting to confirm the visit.

Ross will visit, then sign. But when?

LaQuinton Ross will make an official visit to Ohio State this weekend, his coach at Life Center Academy said in an e-mail late last night, and will not be signing a binding letter of intent until after the visit.

But exactly when will he sign _ before next Wednesday _ and with whom?

"Coach Matta, LaQuinton and his family will make that decision," the coach, Wilson Arroyo, replied in a follow-up email this morning.

The deadline for signing during the early period is next Wednesday. After that, recruits can not sign until the monthlong spring period begins in April.

If he does, and I also think he will, I want my banana back but if he signs with Ohio State I will give him a couple more bananas:)

While all this would not be a shocker, as it was odd for him to commit without seeing the campus. I think there is a better shot of him signing with OSU then not. Once he's on campus, and able to take in not only a basketball game, but a big OSU football game... I think he will feel the energy of what it is to be a Buckeye. Hopefully he clicks with Amir Williams and along with Coaches and other players, have a blast at the PSU beating.

5:28: Buckeye fans can breathe easy. Just got off the phone with Omhar Carter, of MBA Hoops. The AAU coach of LaQuinton Ross said his star player is still committed to Ohio State.

"He is still committed," Carter. "Coach Matta has been on the phone with the mom. He's supposed to be there this weekend on campus."

Ross is one of three four-star prospects set to head to Columbus (Ohio). (ED)

On ESPN3 during the NC A&T game the commentators were talking about how good of a recruiter Matta was...then one of the guys mentioned that Matta "enjoys recruiting"...IMO thats the reason for his sucess...he enjoys meeting and talking with these kids. Like the one commentator said "who wouldn't wanna play in this environment" :)
