Hangs around long enough? The guy already has a 5 to 6 second hang time on his dunks... what more do you need to see? :p

It would be interesting to time it out and see what stays up longer - Sam Thompson or a Ben Buchanon (one of the unblocked kind).

Best game of anyone against Walsh, imo. 0 TO or PF with the other stats he had were pretty awesome. We are definitely going to need him to make any noise this year.

Yes, he had production in a number of areas on the stat sheet. But the other positive aspect is he was productive while avoiding having many negative plays (TOs, missed shots), which is what you would expect from a great player against a lesser opponent.

he should be 1st option on OOB's plays whenever he is in the game. Dude can sky and he finishes plays. I want to see him be a more consistent part of their offense b/c he is so good in the lane finishing as well as the game-changing/crowd-rising alley-oops we have seen him throw down.

Go Bucks!!!!

If only every game for Sam Thompson could be like the one last weekend against North Carolina Asheville.

Make that first jump shot. Get behind the defense three times in the first 51/2 minutes of the game, have teammates connect with you, and convert three free throws and a dunk.

?Any time you can see the ball go through the rim, whether it?s a layup or a free throw, a mid-range jump shot, it?s definitely a big-time confidence boost and big for getting you in the offensive rhythm for the game,? Thompson said.

It?s getting to that time of the season when the Buckeyes might need Thompson, a 6-foot-7 sophomore wing, to be in rhythm on offense. The December dessert tray is about vanquished. The talent advantage the seventh-ranked Buckeyes (9-1) have enjoyed in recent weeks will narrow, defenses will swarm Deshaun Thomas, and his supporting cast will have to respond.

The game against No. 9 Kansas on Saturday in Value City Arena could be a harbinger.

?When we have five guys that are looking to score, five guys that are scoring within the offense, it makes it easier for everybody,? Thompson said.

Ohio State?s scoring balance has been good for much of this season. Thomas is averaging nearly twice as many points as anyone else, but four others have scored in double figures at least four times. Thompson had a career-high 18 points against UNC Asheville.

The notable exception to that balance was at Duke on Nov. 28, when the Blue Devils blanketed Thomas in the second half and none of his teammates could pick up the slack. The Buckeyes shot 33.8 percent in their only loss of the season.

Duke, now No. 1, is the only ranked team Ohio State has played. Kansas will be the second. The Jayhawks (9-1) rank 10th nationally in points allowed per possession and seventh in field-goal-percentage defense.

Thompson said the Buckeyes have improved a lot of ?little things? since the Duke game.?Making hard cuts, going where we need to in the offense, setting good screens. It?s nothing really huge, but when you add up all those little things, it turns into a big thing,? he said.

?All the small things we didn?t do well during the last 10 to 12 minutes of the Duke game, all the small things that have gotten us in trouble at points during the year, we just have to continue to get better at.?
