The rules need to be adjusted with all these Aussie style punters. Tirade or not, when a punter runs all the way to the sideline to kick the ball, it should be open season on him. What, should the opposing team just stand there and let him walk ten yards to pick up the first down?

The rules are fine, they just need to be enforced correctly. Rule 9 already states that a kickers protection ends after a "reasonable" amount of time to execute a kick or when he carries the ball beyond the tackle box. That is why Harbaugh was PO'ed, because the refs blew the call, and the league has since apologized because it was a blown call. It's always open season on rugby-style punters.

In the modern game of football, CFB or NFL, if you take more than 1 step and blast some fucker (regardless of position) who's standing there without a ball in his hand, there is better than a 50% chance you are getting flagged.
As a famous lawyer once told us, govern yourselves accordingly.
If you go ahead and make the decision to blast them and thereby roll the dice on the flag then, as a famous grinch once said, deal with it.
