SimPLLLLLLLe Jim "6-13" Harbaugh (B1G Suspenders McKhakiPants, Cheater Cheater Booger Eater)

Well, since they can't celebrate winning those vaunted September Heismans anymore, their fans have to strive for something else, I suppose......

Just goes to show just how desperate they really are for any whiff of success, no matter how relevant or based in reality it may (or may not) be. They're still losing - just not as badly - and their fans are eating it up like they're now dominating. It truly is a great time to be a Buckeye.

Michigan fans have talked so much smack about their 2016 recruiting class despite the fact that it finished behind Ohio State's in all three major recruiting services in both class rank and average "star" rating:

Ohio State
Rivals: #3 class; 3.79 average
Scout: #2 class; 3.84 average
247: #4 class, 91.57 average

Michigan
Rivals: #4 class; 3.61 average
Scout: #6 class; 3.59 average
247: #5 class; 89.96 average

Of course, Jim-Bo Kapsarov is really burning up the recruiting trail in 2017, with five total recruits (one 4-star, four 3-star) and the 18th-best class (85.19 average) according to 247 (Rivals and Scout have not yet ranked the 2017 classes).

Meanwhile, Urban Meyer is hangin' out on the front porch drinkin' Yoo Hoo and playin' checkers, yet the Buckeyes have somehow managed to put together the #1 class for 2017 according to 247, with eleven recruits (two 5-star, eight 4-star, and an unranked place kicker) with an average ranking of 92.95.

I sure do hope Urban figures out this recruiting game someday soon.

And this is all done without resorting to Harbaugh's tactic of hiring the high school coaches of prized recruits. In other words, Urban can actually recruit, whereas Harbaugh can only find shortcuts.

There are some kind of limits on staff hiring, aren't there? Maybe not. JH seems like someone who will keep pushing the limits to see how far he can go, and not stop until the whole structure collapses. J. Harbaugh: The Bernie Maddoofus of college football.
There are limits for assistant coaches, like Ash, Herman, Bollman, etc. You have to lose one to hire another.

There are no limits for support staff, like Mark Pantoni or Sammy Silverman (or the endless quality control assistants JimBo can hire to deliver recruits. I believe he's at 5 so far).

I think it is interesting that no one has talked about how the logistics and the costs of the southern spring football folly that Jimma is planning. Are these student-athletes paying for this trip out of their own pocket or is this some free vacation paid for by the university? Would this be an illegal benefit? If not, where would these players who (according to those who say we should pay them) can't afford to buy a pizza on the weekend get the money for this trip?

Not sure who MSU's Daddy is, but given the on-field results in the last several years, whoever it is, that should make them tsun's Grand-Daddy.

Did I miss a page somewhere? When did Urbs lash out? (Other than on the field last season, of course. Gave ttun about 40 lashes, as I recall.)

Oh that was a sparty reference? Making sense now... they know tOSU is out of their league so set sights on little brother down the street.

Re:staff the SEC challenged staff limits a few years ago and won, opening those flood gates. Coach staff is limited, but outside that... it's a free for all. An interesting consequence is that family members of recruits can also be hired - just not as coaches.

what about the 20hr a week practice rules. they'll likely be together 24/7 ... pretty sure that will be a rules violation.

I have a feeling the coaches will be spending 90% of their time around the HS recruits instead.... that is, rather transparently, the real objective here.
Part of me is curious to see it... sacrifice opportunity to develop your talent in Spring to chill w/ HS recruits 10 months before NSD.
