Terrell Lewis (LB Los Angeles Rams)

Actually their depth chart looks much more favorable than ours, even though their base is a 3-4. They only had 13 DL listed on their roster and only 3 DE's. When Hall arrives Hand will be the youngest DE on the roster entering his Junior year and Hall probably already has a leg up on Kareem, the only other DE in the class. Honestly competition should never scare a recruit away, especially for as physically gifted as he is. I don't think this battle is over unless the staff chooses to stop pursuing. I just think the playing field is all even right now.
I think the staff is done pursuing DEs for 2016, Birm stated as much on 11w. And though competition should never scare a recruit, it doesn't mean it doesn't happen. They read recruiting rankings and websites like we do, and I'm sure he saw Cooper blowing up and Bosa committing. Negative recruiting can happen by any coach, and they have the right ammo to do it. OSU will be more than fine

Hall visits Bama on July 13.

Hall visits Ohio State on July 24 for Friday Night Lights, during which time he does something which the coaches really don't like (as reported by Birm).

Hall decommits from Ohio State and names Alabama and Ole Miss as the top schools in the mix a week later.

Not to be that guy, but it doesn't take a whole lot of imagination to figure out what he was doing during Friday Night Lights that alienated the OSU coaches to the point they won't even be pursuing him any more.

The OSU depth chart is a factor, Alabama hiring Aazaar Abdul-Rahim (DC area coach who Hall apparently has a close connection with) is a factor, but any time Ole Miss miraculously jumps into the mix the writing is kinda on the wall as to what else might be a factor in the recruitment.

The South does what the South does.

But it sounds to me like Hall was, more or less, recruiting for Bama at FNL. Any implication beyond that is a bit reckless.

Probably.

Ole Miss cheating at unheard of levels is the worst kept secret in college football, so when they pop up out of the blue on top players' lists it does make one take notice.

That FNL visit really helped  Bummer not having him in the class though, I was really high on Hall. I am a little surprised we are not pursuing another DE though...Cooper is a stud and so is Bosa, but there is some talk of Bosa sliding down to DT in the future. Further, Rashod Berry is playing TE for now and Dre'Mont Jones could very likely grow into a DT and I think Cornell will almost certainly end up at DT.

I don't think there is a dire need at DE considering the young talent in Hubbard, Holmes, Slade, etc. but I would not mind adding another DE if he is top-notch. I also would have liked Robertson or King, but we passed due to having Hall.

Birm posted what happened. Really bad look on Terrell (although Birm does say it goes against his character):

Since it's out there on another site right now – one that I know wouldn't have run it without consent from the coaching staff – here's a bit more info on what happened with Hall.

First, he did not tell the OSU staff he was visiting Alabama the week prior to Friday Night Lights. Not only did he not tell them he was going, but when it was discovered he played it off like it was a short trip – it was a week long.

Second, OSU had set up a tour/academics presentation for Terrell on Thursday before FNL: he did not show up.

Third, when he finally arrived at OSU on Friday, just minutes before FNL began, he was aloof and distant from his (then) future teammates.

Fourth, on Saturday morning following FNL Hall showed up at the WHAC wearing Bama gear. Yes, committed to OSU, where he was visiting, wearing Bama gear at the WHAC.

Facts are: OSU would still take him if he wanted to come back, but they won't chase.

Good luck, Terrell. Do what you gotta do. The Bucks will be back in C-bus doing this:

Actions define character. We--even the coaches--barely get to know these kids during the recruiting process. It's only after they have the chance to build up a body of work can anyone truly say they have a bead on what their character might be.

I don't have a problem with a kid decommitting to another school. It's the actions of how they go about it that matter. Actions define character.
