Texas 13, Nebraska 12 (final)

Well that was embarrassing. Can't spin that one. Their defense straight up kicked our ass and we would and should have lost that game had they not had brain farts with the penalties.

I also wouldn't argue with anyone that says TCU over us. Hell, I agree.

However, I wouldn't automatically give the NC to Bama yet. If the teams play like they did today then they'll kill us but anything can happen and who knows what teams will show up. Our defense is still solid and if we can catch a few breaks and make adjustments offensively we can give Bama a game.

We forget Bama was a blocked field goal away from losing to a 5 loss Tenn(one more loss than Neb) who needed overtime to be Kentucky. So it's not a given Bama is gonna kill us.

Once again no excuses and this offense and special teams deserve criticism. But the knee jerk attitude of most college football fans need to calm down a bit before they insist we will get killed.

Very true, very true. I thoroughly enjoyed every game I watched.

What a day of crazy-assed finishes:

Cincy/Pitt
WVU/Rutgers
Fresno State/Illinois
Houston/ECU
Arizona/USC
GT/Clemson
SF/UConn
Texas/Nebraska

All these were within one score in the final minutes with the trailing team having the ball...many went down to the last play. Amazing day.

Why college football will always be better than the NFL.

Best individual performance?
CJ Spiller

Best team performance?
Nebraska defense

Best finish?
In meaningfulness: Texas vs Nebraska
In craziness: Illinois vs Fresno State

An amazing display of elite defenses and clutch special teams play.

Or, if this game were played in the Big 10, a boring, conservative slugfest which no team deserves to win.

Seriously, for all the people who will be doubtlessly whining that UC should jump Texas I ask...why exactly should their one point win count for more than the one Texas got? Because they can pile up points and give up a pile of points? This was an epic defensive game. Suh is a manbeast. There is no reason that 45-44 counts for more than 13-12.

Yeah that Illinois finish was crazy shit...Zook just had to find a way to lose. I would argue that USF scoring a TD then UConn getting the GW FG, all in the last 30 seconds, is a close 2nd.

The only beef I might have here (might) is to say that Suh was a better individual performance than Spiller, but I would actually only say they were equal, because Spiller was just crazy tonight.

Chris Fowler is pimping that right now. :shake:

In addition to what you said, why should this week carry more weight than the rest of the regular season? How many games did Cincy end by recovering an onside kick from an inferior opponent?

240 and 4 touchdowns? 11.7 YPC. I've gotta give CJ the edge here.

True I didn't think of that. Forget UC. The real discussion is between Texas and TCU.

Wee in defense of Fowler...oh fuck it, he's an asstowel, I won't defend him, but I'm sure the ESPN brass right after the Texas game instructed, no DEMANDED, all of them to start stirring this shit up to A) generate interest in their bowl show tomorrow, and B) keep the controversy fresh to keep everyone talking about the BCS, because that's what everyone there wants.

Yes, but my logic is that A) Georgia Tech defense isn't the same as playing the Texas offense, and B) dominating a game like Suh did at DT in that environment happens like once in a generation...dominating a game from the RB position like that seems to happen once or more a year.

Still, I love Spiller, fuck it, they're both awesome.

That looked like an anti-Heisman performance to me.

I think you have to give it to Gerhart, but he plays for Stanford so he has no chance.

Maybe it should go to Foles??? :tongue2:

(Sorry, had to throw that in, we tried to bring Joey Elliott into contention earlier in the year :!)

Seriously though, 3 TDs against Florida in the title game probably sent it Ingram's way.

All of the announcers are setting this up perfectly...Bama Texas Bama Texas Bama Texas...

watch the computers come back with a big FUCK YOU...Bama vs. TCU

Yeah, well the coaches will have to jump TCU, and their names are on the ballots this year, so do you think they'll have the balls to do what's right?
