Grew up living across the street from Myron McKelvey, the drum major who first led TBDBITL through Script. His son and I were best friends through grade school and high. When we moved from that house, we moved within four houses of Robert Fox, the drum major for Michigan in the same time frame and again his son and I were great friends for a long time.

Watching the 2 bands this weekend, there just isn't any comparison other than there are people in each carrying instruments.

scUMs band appeared to be a larger version of a high school band. They had "flag girls" which I thought was odd. Especially since it appeared that the only size they had in "flag girl" uniform was 2 XL.

TBDBITL was on fire as usual and showed the dipshits from TTUN how it should be done.

I'm not really a band guy, but this performance was awesome. I feel super lucky to have been able to go to Rio and also be in The Shoe yesterday. After a rough first half, the America the Beautiful performance was the lift a lot of us were looking for.

Nothing to add, except my brother, who passed away four years ago, was a member and squad leader of TBDBITL during the Woody era (1969-75). The ramp entrance and "Buckeye Battle Cry" make me lose it every time. Quite a thing.
