Brady is still douchey Brady, but I've officially flipped positions on Goodell and his henchmen: these freaking lawyers have given up "The Shield" to the outrage crowd, and have lost all sense of perspective in the process. This is purely an over-correction to their wimpy responses to the Rice/Hardy/etc affairs, and serves no other purpose than to appease the sports-advocates who demand that A Statement Must Be Made!! If I'm Robert Kraft, I'm going to NFL headquarters and burning down the building with Goodell and Troy Vincent holding each other inside. Ridiculous.

but then on the heels of Rice and company, they let Winston and Clark be drafted with zero fucks given about their past behavior towards women

but now it's time to make a stand about deflated fucking footballs

The NFL is pretty much the NBA to me anymore. Both the people running the league and the people playing in it are distasteful to the point of offensive. I don't want my son seeing it.

Why is that one dumb? Goodell's arbitrary leadership is making a mockery of the NFL, and Brady doesn't need the money or have anything left to prove on the field. If the appeal doesn't go through, why not just walk away in protest? F those lawyers and their whiny media shills.
Because how does taking your ball and going home prove anything? It's not like the NFL will collapse in on itself when Brady leaves. He got caught, didn't want to cooperate, and now we should act like he's the biggest martyr in the world over a four-game suspension?

If the media coverage surrounding the Wells Report was ridiculous (it was), so too has been the response from Brady and the Patriots.

Goodell running off Brady would be worse for the NFL (and its glorious image) than whatever Ted Wells P.I. thinks it's "more probable than not" that Brady and some ball-boys did.

This article really makes it clear how arbitrary and hypocritical the NFL has been in levying this ridiculously over-the-top punishment. The precedent is literally a $20K fine.

Well to be fair, he's a total cunt

what did you expect?

So obviously this titwhistle's suspension will be at least cut in half by an arbitrator. I have heard the team penalties, however, cannot be appealed, which is stupid, becausevif the report says they didn't know about it, there shouldn't have been any team penalties anyway.

the more probable than not language was something collectively bargained by the player's union and agreed to by the owners during the last labor negotiation. if they didn't like that burden of proof, they should have never agreed to it. the precedent is a "minimum $25k fine". that obviously gives the league leeway to tack on more based on the severity. if kraft and brady didn't run around acting like twat-waffles and brady and the rest of his ball drainers cooperated, then goodell wouldn't have dropped the hammer on them.

I'm honestly shocked they did anything.
Don't have a problem with it... likely been doing it for years and calls all their playoff games into question.
Just wish they hit others harder...
5 games for tats. 0 games for theft and domestic violence. Hmmm.

I also wish the player union was ran more by the 90% that don't get up to these shenanigans than by the 10% trying to get easier breaks. I understand lobbying and unionizing for better benefits overall given the cash the owners are making - especially medical. But it seems the player union spends more time trying to run interference for aholes than anything else.

I believe the preferred nomenclature from the CBA is "preponderance of the evidence".
Lol... "yawn".
