Game Thread tOSU at Miami FL, Sept 17, 7:30 pm ET, ESPN

The team has talent but is very young in too many key positions. Throw in a HC that is in over his head and a recipe for disaster has arrived. The bad off-season finally caught up with them.

I could see several more losses this season and the perfect excuse for the Buckeyes to seek their next HC come the winter, with Urban Meyer getting the first call.

A decent D that struggles with the edge sweep but isn't bad. The running game is good. The Joe B era is officially over, with Braxton Moller getting all the snaps with the first unit and getting the long term plan going. WR's need lots of reps to find their hands and finish their pattens. Until then, the opposition will just double up on #11 and dare them to throw to someone else.

I'm driving 5 + hours to attend next Saturdays game and expect to see Miller under center. Hope they rebound but the conference schedule suddenly looks daunting unless Fickell can compose himself, sticking with Miller and an actual plan.

The D was great tonight. If they had any kind of help from the offense UM probably stays at 17. Score 18 and you win.

The problem is that Luke has no offensive support. Bollman is incapable of developing a plan that is tailored to Braxton's skill set. Joe B. doesn't really have a skill set so I'm taking him out of the equation entirely. Not trying to be insensitive but he looked completely out of his element tonight and he's been in the "system" for some time now.

Bollman was flailing tonight. At least the O line looked great up until Miami realized "hey, these guys aren't even going to attempt to throw anymore." Hard to run when there are 9 guys trying to stuff you. I'm surprised the Buckeyes were able to generate the run game that they did.

Those saying we missed JT last night...I disagree. I don't see that game being much different with only JT being added to the mix. Bollman still in charge of the offense and we have seen plenty of vanilla offense with JT at the helm.

One dependable WR would have made a difference last night. Posey would have helped spread the defense out with Stoney to create opportuities for the QBs.
We found out we have a decent field goal kicker. We found out we have a pretty terrific punter.
We found out Jordan Hall could be special.
We know Hyde keeps gettig better and is a beast.
We have a terrific TE in Stoney.
The defense is good enough and will keep getting better.
Coach Fickel isn't "over his head". He was left with QBs who have very little experience and the suspensions of his best players on offense.
Getting Posey, Herron and Adams back will help a lot. But in the mean time
the QB position is a big problem.

The D played good enough to win, but they weren't great. Miller went nuts on us, early. After we settled down, they looked good. Had they not been on the field so long last night, I agree, we had a chance to win.

Agreed, I'm curious how many running plays we had in the second half last night. Even including the series with Braxton? It felt like we gave up on it too early. This is something we did with Tress too.

I know we only had 20 plays in the second half, and I believe at least 6 passes. Braxton had at least another 4-5 runs. So somewhere in the range of 8-10 runs in the 2nd half for Hall and Hyde. They averaged 6.2 and 4.5 yards per carry respectively for the game. So even with 8-9 guys in the box, keep running it until they stop it, the OL did a nice job overall last night.

From my seat in section 253, this was my assessment as well. I was very frustrated with the poor QB play, but even more frustrated with the play calling. Ohio State needs a new OC plain and simple. Bollman can stay as OL coach, but he needs to give up the play calling IMO.

I politely disagree with anyone who said neither QB was moving the ball. I saw Miller move the ball much better than Bauserman was.

I love Joe, but a 15% completion is just not going to work. I was very disappointed after I saw him joking around on the sideline. I would definitely make Miller the official starter this week. This next Colorado game gives him an opportunity for a solid two weeks of practice with the 1st team offense. He will be a much better quarterback against Michigan State than he was last night, I can guarantee that.

I will be very concerned for Luke if he chooses not to start Miller next week against Colorado. I don't see any purpose of putting Joe in for that game. Brax needs the confidence now more than ever.

On the bright side, the Offensive Line was playing surprisingly well. Our running game will be tough to stop once we get the passing game rolling, and I was very proud of Buchanan last night. I saw a significant improvement. Defense looked solid after the first quarter, a couple more big plays could have actually gotten us a W.

Here's to kicking some Buffalo ass. :oh:

I still like Fickell, still think he's the right guy for the job, you are going to have growing pains when making a change like this. But this is trial by fire, and so far he is melting under the pressure.
His absolute biggest handicap is his OC, and unfortunately I see that sinking him.
He has to step up and make the executive decision to play Miller, and while I know he is a "defensive" guy there is no way he cant add some input into the direction of the offense....

I want to see Urban very badly (he will make Miller great, and he will consistently have our recruiting classes top 5, and he knows how to recruit Florida), but more importantly a new staff, particularly at OC as you said. Is Bollman even a good OL coach? From all I've heard, the Buckeye linemen have to be retaught how to play once they get to the next level.

If you think the pick was Miller's fault, I want some of what you've been smoking.

I'm trying to remember a game where I saw more drops. I'm failing.

Words fail me.

Spence should have had that interception. Instead, he deflected it. It was absolutely, 100% the wrong place to throw the ball.

I believe that Miller should start; but being rude to someone who sees, CORRECTLY, that the interception that Miller threw was Miller's fault is contemptible.

Miller did what I expect a freshman QB playing in a packed stadium in primetime to do. He made a mistake. He stared down the receiver and then delivered the ball late and behind the receiver. Definitely BMiller's fault. I think most of us can agree that we are better off with Miller at QB the rest of the season, though.

LF better take charge of theQB situation letting Bollman fritter around with the QB's another week would be stupid..LF needs to go in Mon tell Bollman who the Qb is gonna be then get him ready to succeed..Bollman's game plan had two Qb's ready to fail this week..

This is no knock on him. He has to grow and learn what to do in those situations. But I saw a lot of empty seats. How many people did they say were there 80,000. What is he going to do with 100,000+. He will be fine.

I think most would agree that Fickell needs to set the tone this week and tell it like it is. Name miller and see where that takes ya. However, I want to see Fickell walk in and throw that pet iguana dick on Bollman's forehead. Tell him to keep his mouth shut on personel the rest of the year while he is at it.
