tOSU Recruiting Discussion

Ohio top 10 for 2016. Kraemer is #1, and I have a sinking feeling we're losing him to NoD...

It's still pretty early in the game to worry about that. I'd let the season play out and see where we're at with him. And having a few GCL guys on our roster and coming in, as well as in his class could benefit us as well.

I can see him attending two or three games this year, and coming around the way Hilliard did.

But I don't see him committing as early as Hilliard did. ND will be in this fight for a while. Elder and the west side of Cincinnati of heavily Catholic, and there's a whole lot of Irish love on that side of town. I'd even say that the Buckeyes are cheered for 3rd after ND and UC. But if any group of coaches can do it, a combo of Urban and Coombs(a HS coach from the westside who also coached at UC) certainly can.

What a pity ND is having a few academic issues at the moment:roll1:

Idk if recruits even care about that though.

Normally that would be correct but occasionally there is a recruit that actually cares about the quality of their education (off the top of my head....Hilliard and Odenigbo). I think Kraemer falls into that category but as we've seen with Hilliard, recruits can realize that you can have top-notch academics to pair with top-notch football

Aka (as usual), I stand with Wade...plenty of time there.

I believe Kraemer did mention academics. If a recruit is genuinely concerned about the quality of the education they will receive, the odds are astronomical, the parents are as well. ND is selling a great education. I'm not saying it will, but what's going on could throw up red flags.

I could probably imagine that one of the 2016 recruits spoken to in the article is Kraemer...
Take from it what you will, but IMO, recruits don't care about scandals unless it directly affects them(scholarship reductions, postseason bans, etc)

If JT has a steady hand and the team surprises some people I can see that as a real positive for recruiting. Maybe I am wrong but I am hoping that in MIller's absence other playmakers step up, the "system" is better showcased and that is attractive to recruits. Last year the offense was primarily Miller and Hyde and now with both of them gone, if the offense doesn't slow down much and other playmakers become household names I see this as a positive for recruiting. Yes, I am a glass half full guy but I think situations like this are an opportunity for the coaches to get some positive attention. 4 starters leave and the O line plays well? Another feather in Coach Ed's cap. JT steps in and keeps the offense humming? Another feather in Urb's/Tom's cap. The defense does a total 180 (which I fully expect) and it puts a huge feather in LJsr's and Ash's cap. The point is that when something major happens and your Heisman candidate all world player goes down for the season and your team responds well it sends a hell of a message. Let's hope that is the case.
