tOSU Transfer Portal Recruiting Discussion

What?!

Is this for real, or wishful thinking?

All I know is that this offseason has been wild. Where there has been social media smoke there has been fire: McLaughlin, Howard, Judkins, the returning players, the recruits, staff moves. And these are tweets coming from Ricart and the other big NIL collectives themselves. Ohio State is on fire right now on the social media front. They have REALLY taken all the noise out of scUMs celebration, it’s just massive momentum in the new world of recruiting/transfers.

Also, just as an FYI, Alabama players are open for 30 additional days to transfer with Saban retiring.

Yeah still won’t be close lol…

Burke/Iggy I think is better collectively than Okudah/Arnette. I think Hancock is better than Wade and hard to argue with Downs/Ransom at safety although I do love Fuller.

I think none of our corners are as good as Okudah but the next 3 best are on this years team.
Eh, Wade was best in the slot but I would still agree this Defense is going to be the best since 1998 in my opinion if Downs ends up here.

There. I said it.

That’s what made TCUN a good defense. They were just old.

Now this group won’t have a lot of 5-6 years kids like TCUN did but it’s been a long time since we’ve had a senior dominant defense.

You add the high end talent with being senior level experienced high end talent and the make up is there to be a historical defense. Especially considering the offenses we will see the majority of the year.

That is one of the biggest parts of Gene Smith retiring that I am looking forward to. Getting our NIL game stronger. There is no excuses.
OSU's NIL game either needs to unite and get on the same page or the program will be stuck. Be done with the petty rivalry when both collectives are supposed to want the team to succeed. The new AD needs to be the adult in the room

I think Gene maybe see's himself as the adult in the room, and plays things conservative with NIL and compliance, or he just plain doesn't grasp the NIL world all together, and new forms of fundraising. Maybe all the changes are one of the reasons behind his retirement.

The whole NIL, conference realignment and portal thing seemed to happen super quickly.

I don't envy any AD in the current world of CFB. Especially at the top tier.
