tOSU Transfer Portal Recruiting Discussion

Heard Eliano may be gone, and Walton be in charge of whole secondary. That would be a massive surprise if true. I thought Eliano was doing a good job.
That’s put forward in that same thread, but is pulled back later.

Eliano seems to be on the block as an option to make room for the second DL coach they want to make the LJ Sr transition year possible. But apparently Laurinaitis is willing to take a hit as a GA for another year (as an amazing Buckeye through and through if true) to make that move unnecessary.

Also this additional info on Judkins.

Per birm.

Judkins and Henderson both seem willing to play together and share the load. Not saying it will happen but it's not a deal breaker like originally thought

More birm:

Gonna go to bed now but want to say this before I do: Ohio State is unequivocally the team to beat for Judkins at this point.

I know nothing about Judkins, but I am okay if Henderson goes to the NFL or stays and splits carries with Judkins or anyone else. If he stays, I want him to stay healthy and not get worn down so he can make his money in the NFL. If he goes, again, no problem as he needs to make some funds in the NFL. He's been a great Buckeye!

So another year that Laurinaitis can't go on the road to recruit? That seems like an L to me. Am I missing something?
it's only an L if you ignore the reason for doing it. if the reason is to get a succession plan in place to stop the bleeding that is DL recruiting, not an L. if the reason is so we can continue to pay Parker Fleming to fuck with field position, that's an L.

this all hinges on the statement that Laurinaitis is willing to sit another year.

Absolutely right. Hadn't put the DL coaching transition together with JL.

I know we want him on the road to recruit, but can he coach?
Not sure on taking over at DL right away, but special teams would be nice so he can go on the road to recruit.

Popped in to say I'm liking our portal recruiting so far. Hit some real areas of need, just need to nab 1-2 good DL and an OT. Maybe a safety for depth.

Judkins was an absolute monster his freshman season racking up 1500 yards and 17 total TDs on 5.7 YPC while splitting time with Zach Evans (5* RB recruit) who also had nearly 1000 yards. His production was down slightly last year with 1100 yards on 4.3 YPC. He’ll be a great fit with Henderson as long as we properly utilize them.

THE HURRY-UP: OHIO STATE EMERGES AS THE FAVORITE FOR TRANSFER RB QUINSHON JUDKINS AFTER VISIT, 2025 RB JEFFERY OVERTON PUTS OSU IN TOP 10

Arguably the most talented player available in the transfer portal market visited Ohio State on Sunday.

And according to a source, Ohio State has emerged as the frontrunner to land Ole Miss transfer running back Quinshon Judkins following his trip to Columbus, though there’s no timetable for a decision as of yet.

Ohio State is still waiting on a decision from star running back TreVeyon Henderson regarding his future, but if he opts to return to Columbus for another year, that wouldn’t necessarily prevent OSU from adding Judkins. Nor would a Judkins commitment mean that Henderson has decided to enter the 2024 NFL draft.

Judkins, who entered the transfer portal after two years at Ole Miss on Thursday, is the first SEC player since Herschel Walker to score 15-plus touchdowns in each of his first two college seasons. In 2023, Judkins ran for 1,158 yards and 15 touchdowns on 271 carries while adding 22 catches for 149 yards and two receiving touchdowns. In his freshman season, he ran for 1,567 yards on 274 carries with 16 rushing touchdowns.

If the Buckeyes can land Judkins and Henderson opts to return to OSU, the Buckeyes would boast arguably the best backfield in the country, made even more dangerous by new quarterback Will Howard’s rushing ability.

If we end up with both Henderson and Judkins, any idea what this means for Dallan Hayden?

With how much injuries have piled up for RBs, I don’t see why he still wouldn’t stay. Williams and Trayanum Had a healthy workload as the 2nd and 3rd RBs. Treyveon rarely stays healthy all season as well. But he hasn’t given an official word on his status. But he’s also a man of few words
