2,400 passing yards last season and a total of 24 touchdowns. Grew up in Ohio before moving to Texas and dreamed of going back.

In the video on is scout page which is about a minute and half. He ran three option plays up the middle out of the spread. Not sure if that means he is or not.

Not much to go on, but what little the video shows is impressive. He looks like he has a great mix of size, speed and throwing ability.

Reminds me a little bit of Jeff Driskel. Seems to throw on the run really well and mobile, but not a big-time runner like Tebow/Braxton.

I wouldn't really call him a dual threat quarterback but he definitely has more athleticism than the normal pro style quarterback, and he does run a few plays out of the read option. He throws a really pretty ball though and shows some very nice touch on many of his passes. As well as mentioned before, he throws well on the run. There is a lot to like in his film but as far as 2014 QBs go, I really like Barker from KY

Hey guys, I go to school with Jordan at Westlake and I'll answer a few questions about him.

First, his stats are kind of deceiving as those are his JV stats, however still impressive. That hudl video you saw was our JV Red team or essentially our JV "A" Team.

And yes, Westlake is generally a very good team here in Texas and if any of you want to come see him play, I suggest you come see Westlake take on 5-time defending Texas state champ Lake Travis on November 2nd.

And lastly, Jordan is not technically a dual-threat QB, but at 6'4 220lbs he is very mobile and actually scored for the varsity team a few times in the playoffs. All in all, he's a really good QB who is just barely scratching the surface of his potential. He has been tearing it up this spring and we expect HUGE things from him this year... And we just might need it as Westlake faces the toughest schedule in the state in the #1 (5A), #2 (4A), #7 (5A), and #23 (5A) teams in the state with a good chance of facing #2, #6, #8, #9, #12, #13, and #24 in the 5A playoffs. Needless to say, Westlake is in the toughest region in the toughest classification in HS football in Texas and to survive, Jordan needs to step up big time and I think he will.

As promised, I am back to give an analysis of Jordan's play tonight in a scrimmage vs. Abilene Cooper.

He did a good job of putting touch on passes in taking something off passes in order to drop balls in. He did a good job of running the ball tonight, giving Westlake an added demension to our offense. Obviously he's not going to make anyone think he's Vince Young or Robert Griffin, but he picks up plus yards with his feet. When he runs, he uses his size to his advantage which results in a bullish style of running. I see him drawing quite a bit of attention this year at Westlake. Tonight he only played one half and I don't know the exact stats, but he had over 140 yards or so passing and two TD's.

He plays again next Friday night vs. #2 ranked Cedar Park at home.

Westlake defeats Cedar Park 21-7

Billed by some as Westlake's next great quarterback, Jordan Severt opened his first varsity season by throwing an interception on his first pass.

That turned out to be the only negative moment in a 21-7 victory over Cedar Park Friday night at Chaparral Stadium.

Severt made up for that mistake by passing for 200 yards and two touchdowns, and Westlake's defense did the rest in the opener for both teams.

"You've got to have a short memory as a quarterback," said Severt, reflecting on his only pick.

Severt engineered a long touchdown drive on Westlake's next possession, culminating with a short touchdown pass to Patrick Elliott. He followed that with a touchdown pass to Brandon Box, and running back Alex Chavez scored on a 34-yard touchdown run in the second half.
