U.S. Women's National Soccer (USWNT)

This squad really needed Mal Swanson-Pugh, Catarina Macario (injuries) and Lavelle (suspension).

Something more dynamic than Morgan/Smith/Rodman just trying to run past the defense on long balls.

They finally looked good but still couldn’t a goal or result. The PKs not even testing the keeper 3 times is just brutal.

Like I said, they were due for a comeuppance. Get rid of what's left of the old guard. They were a bit too full of themselves.

This just in.....you can't be a CeLeBrItY and be good at your sport. Better let.....I dunno......every good player from the NFL and NBA know. Lebron is so close to becoming good, if he'd just drop that celebrity status.

Oh......wait......

Straight reality is, they just aren't actually better than everyone else anymore.

In about 3 cycles, the Euros have spun up alongside the men's leagues, better women's leagues than we have in England, Germany, France, and Italy (at least)

Here's Sweden's roster and club teams.

The Euros are *gasp* once again developing better players than we are at soccer, and when you're missing 3 of your best players, and your 12-15th players aren't better than the opponent its not as easy.

Greg Ryan went back to women's college soccer after his stint with the USWNT (U.S. finished 3rd).

I'd guess Vlatko gets some NWSL job. In his two tournaments, he won 4-of-10 though.

Emma Hayes seems interesting, but she won't leave Chelsea for the USWNT.

Wish Ashley Sanchez would've gotten a chance to play in this tournament.

And, the GM that chose him also hit the road. With the 'oldsters' that are stepping down, maybe there will be a resurgence of good play. Daughter follows women's soccer mightily, and all of these ladies play on paid teams. Didn't see any effective offense, and given the low scores of the USA team, understand why they fell. Sweden's goal keeper was MVP of that game for certain.
