Herbie for President
Down in Florida, brought the laptop with me... I set the computer on a desk which overlooks the atlantic. I can relax and gossip at the same time :tongue2: ... off to eat some of the best fresh fried shrimp on the planet (small mom and pop joint... our tradition is to eat there on the first night we are down... been comming here since I was two years old... wondering why I havn't moved down full time to enjoy "the good life" 24/7)...

I agree. I'd be on a cruise right now if the f*****g ship hadn't caught on fire!!!

Today, the ship would have been in Holland and here I sit in f*****g Gahanna.

where in Florida are you at gbear?

South Hutchingson Island... one of the barrier islands between the atlantic and Indian River (intercoastal... part salt water, part fresh water "river"). I'm about 45 min. north of West Palm Beach Airport (north of Stuart, South of Vero... the closest "city" is Fort Pierce). There's not much around (except golf courses, the ocean, a few pools/hot tubs, and several good seafood restraunts ... think island life... no traffic, all mom & pop establishments, slow relaxed life), really an R&R type place (also the reason I finally remembered my laptop... there is absolutly nothing to do in the evenings except watch tv, spend time with the Mrs., drink, and eat). PGA village is close by, along with several other nice courses (if only I could learn how to swing a club, and control a small white object :tongue2: )

Where are you (I know you're on the west side... maybe up near Tampa???)?

about an hour south of Tampa. I've been over to Stuart but that was years ago before I lived down here. That island sounds like Siesta Key which is 5 minutes from here... the only problem is that you need at least 750K to live there.

Tibs,

I'm currently on Vacation... later next week I have a multi day conference to attend in Tampa (that part is business, and I do need a computer for that... another reason I didn't forget the laptop this time:wink2: )... also, as stated above, there is nothing to do in the evenings (good for R&R, not good for "night life").

Bingo... prices were reasonable a few years back... over the last few years prices have spiked to "crazy" prices (esp. ocean front). Interestingly enough there are the usual snow birds that are currently gone, however there are several folks from Miami and Lauderdale that own places here as weekend homes (getting away from the "big city" seems to be the trend)... The island is very long. The bottom is slightly south of downtown Stuart running up to Ft. Pierce. There is an inlet at Ft. Pierce, and on the other side of the inlet is North Hutchingson Island which runs from Ft. Pierce up to Vero.

I stayed on S Hutchinson while working in Ft. Pierce till the bosses caught wind of the price, then i had to move to the poor section of the island. They weren't down with the 175 a night price tag but the hotel had a killer bar

Hutchinson Island is my kind of place. I haven't been there in years, but have always loved the peace and quiet there.

Have fun.

There used to be a place nearby that had the best onion rings ever. I believe it was called Chumleys or Lord Chumleys.

How built up is the Stuart area now?
