Vince Young (unemployed)

Young was amazing!

I haven't seen Michigan enough to know if Michigan's defense is that bad but Young's runs made the blue rodent defense look absolutely horrible! I'm greatful that Vince was not nearly so formidable in the '03 Holiday Bowl, otherwise the Cougs may not have emerged with the win.
Certainly after seeing Texas play in this Rose Bowl I find it hard to imagine that any Cal Bear fans out there could still be bitching about being bumped out of a BCS bowl slot.

Go Cougs!

I think Derting had a little something to do with slowing him down last year. :)

Derting was phenomenal in that game but.....

.........Young has certainly vastly improved from last season. The guy has wheels!!! From what I saw today the defense had better get him with the first shot as they may not get a second chance! Even Derting would have had a tough time today against him.

Running QBs have torn SCUM up all year. I figured before hand that Young would rip them a new one since he is such a great running QB. Too bad he can't pass and he gives up on the WRs too early sometimes. Either that or Texas's WR must be really bad if they can't get open.

Young is impressive, but I don't think the task of stopping him is as daunting as some of you are making it sound. The Buckeyes always seem to prepare pretty well for running QBs. Second of all, we do have the best LB corps in the nation. With all due respect to scUM (none!), their LBs aren't fit to hold our LBs jocks.

Young has speed to burn, but speed only matters when he's stretching a run to the outside or when he's in the secondary. Quickess is compeletely different, and that's what makes the run count for him. Young is certainly quick too, but when it comes to beating a player to the edge or reacting to quickness up the middle, I'll take our LBs hands down against all but two guys. One of them is Reggie Bush, and the other one, they only have to face in practice.:wink2:

Vince Young really impressed me today, but I really feel that our defense matches up excellently with him. On defense, we are fast, have depth, play disciplined (i.e, we stay in our gaps and rarely overpursue), and most importantly, we tackle well.

Also, Michigan never hit him hard. Our guys will. That much I can guarantee.

Michigan's defense really sucked this year. If they don't recover that onside kick against MSU, and if they had to play iowa at the end of the year as opposed to the beginning, they could have lost 5 games.

3 loss Llloyd does it again. I didn't think it was possible to get out-coached by Mack Brown. They need to fire their defensive coordinator. They had all month to prepare for a scrambling QB.
It's too bad Michigan and Purdue had to screw the Big Ten, but on the bright side it will be that much sweeter when we thump Texas.

Why did Michigan try to defend Texas as anything but an option team? Young isn't at all a good thrower, some people in this thread said average, but I wouldn't give him that credit, he has absolutely some of the worst touch I've ever seen from a D1 qb. Michigan completely failed to adjust.

I think OSU is going to do pretty well against this kid, our Line Backers are much faster than Michigan's and our DBs will be okay one on one. I don't think our Safeties will be minimized...I don't recall hearing Michigan's safeties names called very much last night, they would have been helpful in containing young to short gains

Did anyone hear Dan Fouts say that Vince Young was going to win the Heisman next year? I laughed out loud.
I was more amused when Keith and Dan were slobbering all overthemselves (In Keith's case, literally) about how great a game it was. Sure, it was a "great" game, if you don't care for much defense.

Keith waxing poetic on an official spotting the ball - "That's a intercep... incompl... oh jeese... that's a first down."

Is it just me, or does Fouts provide the worst analysis of a QB of any former QB ever? How many lame duck air balls does friggin Henne have to throw before someone..anyone... will say, "Hey, he got away with that because Braylon Edwards can out jump his man. He tries that next year, he's going to have a passer rating of 2." Going back to that Michigan State/Michigan game.... All I am hearing about is how great Henne is for a true frosh. And I'm watching, and I'm thinking Good Friggin God Jared Hayes has the vertical leap of a sausage.

I knew going in Young was gonna give Michigan problems. He didn't disappoint. I did give Texas' defense too much credit going in, though. I expected Texas to win by 2 TD's - Mack "big game" Brown notwithstanding.

I will say this, Hart keeps his legs moving forward and doesn't fall over easy. He's not the greatest TB in the world, but I gotta give him props for his running style. He usually gets 3 - 5 extra yards after the 1st hit. You really gotta hit him square... Looking back on his lack of production in The Game - hats off to OSU's D yet again.

Fouts, like always, over hypes things and players. Troy Smith and the Spartan QB, both tore up the weasel defense! Smith may not be as fast, but compare the numbers! Same result! Spartans would have beat Weasels had their QB played the whole game.

Remembering back, it seemed that even during The Game, Hart got a lot of extra yards after the first hit. Luckily the first hit seemed to be deep in the Michigan backfield in many cases (guess it wasn't really luck!). Hit him early and hit him often. Hart acts more of a veteran than did/does his "veteran" offensive line.
I think we need to use the same philosophy against Vince Young next year. Hit him early and hit him often. tOSU probably can't put up 37 points on the THorns, so we need to shut him down much, much better than scUM did.

I think we'll do alright against Young next year if we put one guy on him as a spy at all times. I think Whitner would be a good spy on him. OSU will have a good plan to stop Young.

Overall he did not impress me that much as a passer, but is one hell of a runner.
