I've been having an ongoing struggle with my wireless network, which is why I haven't been on here lately. :( Does anyone know a lot about wireless routers and networking? I have a new Cisco Linksys E1500 router, and I think the higher frequency is set up wrong interfering with the network itself. Someone help! I miss BuckeyePlanet!

I'm not sure what you're trying to ask. You're having interruptions in your network?

That could be a great deal of things. Including wireless dead spots.
It ended up being a pretty sick virus on one of the computers at my house. I ended up downloading a program called Darick's Boot and Nuke (DBAN) which completely whipes the hard drive clean including virus' that could be floating around on there. The virus was slowing my internet speed to a crawl until eventually it got so bad, my modem/router wouldn't even work. Thankfully it's taken care of now. I just need to find a Windows 7 disk to reload onto my computer, and I should be good to go.

If you have the code you don't need a disc. You can get it online. You can either burn it as an image on a DVD or look up how to install from a thumb drive.

If it's a laptop, the code should be on the back of the machine. If you have issues with authentication, just call Microsoft (in the mean time you will have 30 days to use it without any issues). I have changed so many components on my multiple builds I often have to call them to authenticate Windows (when Windows sees a new motherboard it thinks you installed in on a new computer while still being installed on the old one). I have even done it with an upgrade code. They are actually pretty helpful, and I haven't really been questioned at all the authenticity of my claim that I simply installed a new motherboard and all I had was the upgrade disc (I told the lady I was not about to find the Vista disc and install Vista so I could get the upgrade copy to work).

I appreciate all of the advice. That was another one of my problems. I had upgraded to a Windows 7 trial issue without being aware of the fact that you couldn't revert back to the previous OS. So I had been running this trial a year or so after it was supposed to expire. I'm in the process of getting re-enrolled into college which will help with the OS expense a bit with the student discount. I suppose I'll go that route.

You could get Win7 Professional for $30 as a student about a month ago, but I'm not sure if they're still running that promotion. Check their online store, or Google the appropriate terms. This reminds me that I need to call Microsoft because the student price is for an upgrade disc, and I do clean wipes for Boot Camp.

Good to know! Thanks!
