Woody Hayes Athletic Center (Official Thread)

No it wasn't, it was built in 1987 (18 years ago).

Woody died in 1987.

Get your shit straight boy!!

Sorry my very confused friend, your wrong. It was dedicated in 1987 to honor him. My grandpa worked at OSU when it was built. I once thought it was built in 1987 too, but then my grandpa told me it was dedicated in 1987 in honor of him. But was built in the 70's, and at the time was called something else.

Originally built in 1987, upgrades are needed in a variety of areas. The facility is named for former Buckeye coaching legend Wayne Woodrow (Woody) Hayes. An Ohio historical marker was placed in front of the building in 2004.

There was an old practice facility on Lane Ave. that I believe was built in the 1970's, when I was at tOSU. I'm guessing that TG05's grandfather is thinking about that one.

in the bench press picture......john hollins is #11 in the speed section.

before he graduated after last season, my dad and i used to get tickets from him if we were to go to ohio state games. he didnt play much on offense, however he was a special teams tear. he did score a td on a blocked punt in the 2003 fiesta bowl against KSU. my dad worked with his cousin so we got to know them. real nice family and his parents travelled to every game. glad to see he got some recognition!

Well, maybe he was thinking about the one on Lane. But i was commenting on it before i was going to my camp and he gave me that story. I guess i'll have to tell him that he was wrong.

BTW I like how in the Bench Press Record picture, that if you look at the bottom, it lists the positions that fall under that position catagory.

POWER: OL and DL

BIG SPEED: LB,TE,FB,K,P,LS

Speed: QB,WR,RB,DB

I'm sorry but I don't think kickers and punters fall under the BIG SPEED catagory, if anything it would be the SPEED catagory that they would fall in.

Well regardless, TG05 should have fact-checked before calling someone wrong.
The WHAC was built during Jennings' first tenure as President at Ohio State.

University Calls On Jennings To Fill Interim Post

</TD><TD> </TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>
The university’s Board of Trustees announced on June 7 the appointment of Edward H. Jennings as the university’s interim president. The appointment is effective July 1 and will run until the university’s presidential search committee finds a successor to outgoing president William E. Kirwan. Jennings previously served the university as its 10th president from 1981 to 1990 and more recently as professor of finance in the Fisher College of Business. During Jennings’ first tenure as Ohio State president, the university launched its first major fund-raising campaign, which surpassed its $350 million goal by more than $100 million in private gifts and pledges. Several campus landmarks were constructed during that period, including the Wexner Center for the Arts, the Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute, the Woody Hayes Athletic Center and the Frank Hale Black Cultural Center.

Just trying to head off the (inevitable?) TGO5 assertion that dedicated didn't mean built.

Anyway, I'm glad they are going to do an overhaul of the place. Plus, the means they are choosing to fund the overhaul will not really take a bite out of the State Budget. Given the strong support for the Buckeyes and their OVERALL Athletic program - that is exactly the correct approach.

Why would kickers and punters be considered speed?
