Idk why people would be surprised if braxton left after this year. If he balls out and is given a 1st rd grade, I just don't see the reason in him staying(though I'd love for him stay). If the draft has taught us anything, its that you need to strike while the irons hot. Matt Barkley and matt leinert, just to name 2 are examples of showing that coming back for your senior season definitely hurts your draft stock, especially if braxton wins the heisman next year. Scouts have even more film to tear you apart and they will do that. We need to bring in a qb in every class or at least every other and create depth due to said early departures. We're looking at braxton through a fan's lenses, we don't know his family's financial situation. All of us would want him to stay, but realistically none of us should be surprised if he continues what he did last year and chooses to play on sundays. This is a business at the end of the day, even though people try and act like school is the primary factor.
All 3 qb recruits look great for this offense but need some seasoning for the college game

No offense to some folks, but I can't believe the amount of people that really think that there is any chance that miller leaves after this coming season.

He isn't close to having to passing ability required to be a high round NFL draft pick. He may still not after his SR year even. I hope he improves and OSU benefits from the improvements. But he was light years away from being a serious threat to be a 1-2 rounder last year. I also didn't see a whole lot of difference between last year and what we saw in the spring game. I am aware that spring games are not great barometers, but I am just just commenting on what I saw.

Sure, Brax could leave early but I doubt it. Sure you have to allow for the injury bug. But I still don't think it's maditory to get a QB this year. Is it manditory to take a headline QB this year? Sure, you take them every single year if you can. I am simply suggesting the staff must feel like they won't waste a schollie on a reach. Not with Barrett last year....as an early enrollee to boot. He should be in the system quite a while just learning before you are asking him to start. That's why he was such a huge get last year. He could be lights out but at the very least he will be pretty well seasoned before you ask much of him. In that time, keep the standards high, look national, and swing for the fences in your recruiting efforts at QB...that seems like the plan to me. I expect to sign one of the 4 we have offered so it's probably pointless to speculate the staff's move if they couldn't land any of them. I just doubt they would reach beyond this group considering how long it took to move beyond Watson. I would just love to know if the staff had this timetable of their own - offer a select group if Watson doesn't schedule a visit by late April or is it completely a reaction to Watson's recent comments. Hmmm....

Will Braxton be a guaranteed first round draft pick after his junior year? I have no idea but I do find the implication that leaving school a year before graduation to take a position with a company where you will receive a starting salary of 2-5 million dollars (and guaranteed over four years) as not the 'smartest decision' to be inherently flawed.

Don't have a clue whether Braxton will be a guaranteed first rounder or not. Unlike basketball, where one can withdraw, football is 'all in' or not. That you know. If the kid DOES win the Heisman and championship, who's to say whether he goes or not. If he does not, whew, one more year of a very good quarterback. If he does, what's left in the pipeline, coming up?

Simple game theory. As a coach/CEO/head of family, you have to look at the glass being half empty when you play your 'what if' games. Right now, when Guiton runs out of eligibility, AND if Braxton goes NFL, the cupboard is pretty darn bare. Too many question marks.....IF Cardale starts to 'get it'. IF the Texas qb recovers at the level he played as HS qb. Maybe good enough for a mid-major, but not if you want to challenge the elite, let alone go head to head with the Penn State or Wiscy's of the world....pair and a spare? Urban's $5 million salary indicates to me that those are not risks he's willing to take.

Still, one or two years 'seasoning' isn't a bad thing for a qb to learn the system at the selected school, college game, and playing with kids all around you who were better than those you played with in HS, for the most part. Yeah, I'd like a couple of years to 'ease into the pool'. Remember what Urb said about Braxton when he first took over. Shoulda red-shirted....or some such. Also remember that everybody is trying to tear the head off the qb, and if he's a 'runner' (which Urb seems to like), then the odds of an injury probably go up geometrically. Just sayin....

Urban F. Meyer, in one of his interviews, said he wished Braxton didn't have to play the first year. He also said he hasn't seen Braxton's ceiling yet. That is how far he has to go. Based on these two statements, I feel Braxton is going to come back for his senior season.

I don't see how him not being dumb Makes any sense in his decision. If osu goes undefeated, he gets the heisman or is in the top 3 and we win a NC. What does he have left to prove in college? Since he's not dumb like you stated, why would he turn down multi million dollars and the opportunity to play with even better skilled players?

Just sayin': Two recent USC quarterbacks (Matt Lienhart and Matt Barkley) stayed for their senior year and they paid dearly for it (i.e. by falling down the NFL draft board compared to where they were projected top go after their junior year). Sometimes staying can be dumb too.

They both played in a pro style system, were guaranteed top 10 picks AND were much better passers than Miller is.

All of that could happen without him improving his passing skills. Also none of that guarantees a 1st or 2nd round pick.

You're never guaranteed a 1 or 2 round pick! Coming back your senior year can definitely hurt your draft stock if your numbers aren't comparable to what they were in your previous year. That's why you strike while the irons hot. Barkley and leinert are perfect examples of this to say the least.
