WR Braxton Miller (B1G POY, National Champion)

A lot of people acting like they don't even want Braxton Miller back next year. How quickly they forget how good he is...and how bad JT Barrett was in the only game he played against a good defense.

As somebody who is still firmly in the "I want Miller back and he should start" camp, I have to call out this post. Barrett was not bad in the VT game. Everybody else around him was.

You guys seriously think JT didn't play a bad game against Va Tech? Like, seriously you think that?

I'm not just looking for an argument. And my point in my original statement wasn't even really to criticize him, it was more to compliment Braxton. I really like JT---I compared him to Troy Smith here today. And I don't blame him for having a bad game against Va Tech. It was his second game in 2 years and his first ever against a legitimate D-1 defensive scheme. I just think people need to pump the brakes on him a little bit after a few good games against bad teams, especially in relation to the 2 time defending conference player of the year.

I think he played less well against VaTech than he has since then. But he was victimized by poor line play and poor hands on the part of his receivers.

Barrett was mediocre against the Hokies; he's been outstanding since. But Brax has built up a whole lot of cred.

I think it's a ridiculous question at this point and that it's foolish to take anything Meyer says about it at face value.

There is no good reason to say anything other than that Miller would be the starter next year if he returns. Taking that stand publicly takes pressure off Barrett and promotes competition.

What Max said.

As long as we're pumping the brakes, let's pump the brakes on saying Barrett was "bad" in a way that makes it seem like he was the main reason they lost that game. QB play was arguably the least broken thing the Buckeyes had on offense against the Hokies.

Coach Meyer refers to him as a "distributor". That's an impossible role to play in games where not a single unit in the supporting cast is functioning.

Barrett was also the victim to poor play calling. Still can't believe that isn't more widely viewed. V Tech D was able to bring pressure over and over and yet the play calls didn't help JT use that pressure against them. Yes, the receivers didn't help the cause.
